Currently, I have a MB Recto Recording Pre, a 50/50, a Mark I (not the reissue), and a 2x12 vertical Recto cab and am considering making changes...

Option 1:
Sell the Recto Pre and the 50/50 and buying a Dual Rect or Triple Rect

Option 2:
Sell the Pre, the 50/50, and the Mark I, and get a Roadster or RKII

Option 3:
Other suggestions... ??

I mostly use this for a home recording studio and have a very broad range of musical taste; the reason I'm thinking of changing things up is I don't feel like I'm getting a "real" rectifier sound from the preamp DI'ed, or the preamp + 50/50 + cab, and I'm not sure I'm getting the most sound for my amp-dollars.

I don't want to spend much more money that would be produced by the sale of the above mentioned amps.

Can I get Mark I-like sounds from the Roadster? Are there any options to get Marshall-esque sound (without buying a Marshall)? All I want is an inexpensive amp that is inspiring and does everything well. :)

Thanks in advance!

the roadking II will do all your tonal requirement(well almost)as it can be setup to use diferent power stages meaning you have a fleet of tube amps in the one head,so you will get a great marshall-esque sound,a MKi,dual rec and well you name it with a little tweaking this amp is the king of all amps(or the road which ever way you look at it),the cleans are crystal as well,go for this, you wont be disapointed but if its too complex then a dual rec, most folks would say the 2 channel (older) version is more organic and therefore better but really the 3 channel has a lot more options than the 2 channel im my opinion, its up to you man,I say the roadking and a RK 2x12" cab!!!

I would never sell the MKI if you have an original .

Ahhh good point didnt notice that fine detail, nah dont sell that baby I bet that thing is sweeeeeeeet!!!!!!!

My advice is sell the recto pre and 50/50, and buy a Roadster (if money is no object get the RKII). This way you get to keep the Mark I which you should!

Thanks for the input.

I definetly decided to keep the MKI, which left me with not a whole lot of money (whatever I get from the sale of the Recto Pre and 50/50). So I just bought an older 2ch DR. Maybe one day, when money is no object, I'll go for the RK, but for now, I think I'll be able to get most of what I want from the DR and MKI (plus I can always break out a POD in case of emergency). :)

Thanks again for input and suggestions.
