I think that these two amps together should really be considered a single amp... I'm saving to get a Lone Star Classic head to pair up with my Deuce II. Together they're cheaper than buying a Bogner Ecstasy.

Thanks for posting this clip. His tone is so great it's nice to see how he gets it with him providing so many details and examples. That Lonestar sounds unreal. And that clean tone on the Stiletto with the Tube Driver pedal... DUDE!

You've got to be kidding me.

I had no idea the lonestar sounded like that!!!!!

My ignorance, I thought the lonestar was a clean amp only!

I am stunned!

That tone straight in was amazing!

I'm just floored!

I am going to GC this week to plug into one.

I think that has got to be my next amp!

Does Andy run the two delays in stereo through the Lonestar and Stiletto or is he using the two different delays and delay times in mono into both amps? If it's stereo, can I run two delays, one at 250 and the other at 500 into just my Lonestar and get near the same effect?

Just watched this video again... Crap I have major LSC GAS right now LMAO!!!!!

The thing that stood out with the Stiletto portion when he was demonstrating the "Gone" sound, was that on the second channel in Tite Gain... backing off on the guitars volume totally cleans up the sound and is amazing. That was the second thing I noticed about the Deuce II when I played it live the first time.... that when you back off the guitars volume it totally cleans up! You can play an entire gig in Tite Gain without an overdrive pedal and by setting the gain around 2 and using the guitars volume you can go from clean to overdrive.

The first thing I noticed was this really sick hazy sound when playing overdriven leads in the second channel on Tite Gain. The Lone Star does not get this haze like the Stiletto does... it's just not there with the Lone Star. It's this sound to die for and you can only get it on the Stiletto when you turn it up a bit and play live. Hard to describe but it's unreal sounding and blew me away the first time I played it live.

It's funny because ever since I saw that video I have looked at the money I have in my guitar stuff fund, and I have been eyeing my Les Paul contemplating whether I want to put it on Craigslist.

Regardless, I have some vacation days next week and I will be at GC on Tuesday when they open.

I mean realistically, that amp is going to sound better with Andy Timmons playing it then me, so I have to here it with my own guitar.

Wow!! I am amazed by the Lonestar as well..

Whats with the 2x12 Horizontals? Thats all he has. How different is that going to be compared to a 4x12??

Also why is the Roadster cab a 2x12 and not a 4x12?

Sorry for all the questions, about to spend on grip on Mesa "stuff" and am trying to narrow it down.

Thx

Some people just prefer 212's. I know I do.

I guess it all depends on the sound you're going for, as well as whether you have roadies to lift your stuff into the truck for you.

With respect to the 4x12 v. 2x12 question. I have two 2x12's and a Traditional 4x12 (Stiletto). Using either cab with a Roadster head, Mark IV, or my Soldano SLO they all shine. There is a tad more elastic punch on the stacked 2x12's to my ears, but on the other hand the straight 4x12 is all meat in its own right. I was rotating all day today and having a friggin' blast. The 2x12's are more versatile in that if you only need half a cab you can do that, but the 4x12 LOOKS a bit better.

I too have the 4X12 traditional cab and one 2X12 recto horizontal . Ive been gigging with the 2X12 on my last three gigs , That may be the best cab ever made IMHO . Having said the 4X12 is very authoratative .

word of warning... for LoneStars to sound like that they have to be getting some air moving. :) They sound pretty lifeless at low volume IMO. Get the tubes cooking a bit though, and it's one of Mesa's best lead tones.

One more thing to note... and a big thanks to Andy Timmons for this one...

I'd been using the KLON Centaur for a couple years and it was great. I bought a BB Preamp and tried it, and then just had it laying around because I didn't use it. After watching that video clip (Thanks again for posting it because it changed my life!) I plugged the BB Pre back in and tweaked with it a bit. THAT pedal is INCREDIBLE. I used it with my Soldano as well and it makes a world of difference.

Although for the Mark IV the KLON still sounds a bit better. I think I have to use a different setting for it.

Get a BB Preamp pedal!
