this is a pretty old cabinet with the original speakers that someone was basically giving away ... cosmetics not withstanding - anyone ever seen/played/owned one ? i have not hooked an amp up to this - probably my MkIII head. thanks.

I've only seen a couple. It's definitely not a Mesa or Orange cab, but it's better than a cheap Marshall MG. I believe they are still plywood construction. Tone is...eh? I wouldn't give more than $150 if buying. Most i've seen are beat to hell and back.

If it's one of the Lee Jackson Ampeg Cab's they are nice.

how could i tell ??

If it looks like a "Marshall" cabinet, it's a Lee Jackson type cab.

If it looks like the '70s then it's a V-4 cab. I had a V-4 half stack for the longest time. The cab sounded absolutely fantastic with the V-4 and not so good with everything else i owned during that time, such as a Marshall JCM800 then 900, and Dual Rectifier. Watch out it may be stuffed with foam, too.
