That Dean Markley I-20 signature series is a rare one even when doing a search online.

I can clearly recall the day I noticed it at the local music store. Looks cool so lets try it out. Gain is rock to hard rock kind of Marshall drive and I found it interesting enough to drag my own Strat + a few pedals around to giving it a second try.

Hey we got to make a deal on this. Sales man got some cash and the Marshall 4100 dual reverb head in exchange.

I used it until the Marshall Major arrived in 2001. After that I did not use it until I guess 2007/8 when I sold the Major. I was by trial and error which lead me to discover that I could use as a poweramp or rather bypass the pre amp section by using a lead plugged in the back of it. The lead goes to one of the outputs on the Mesa Quad.

I tried the non factory effects loop on the Marshall 2104 combo. It worked but did not sound right compared to when I first tried the Quad. I then used the Dean Markley and found that it sounded awesome together.

I use copper picks and they tear up my guitars finishes anyway so I'd never play a vintage Les Paul. Right now my main guitars are a beat up studio light and an Edwards Les Paul. The good Japanese copies are the way to go... Especially lawsuit era Les Pauls.

I was the opposite. I started out wanting high end amps and effects and played on crap guitars. Only in the past couple years have I been on a quest for a quality axe. The Mark IV finally put an end to my tone quest so I was thinking a CT6 from Carvin would fit the bill.

i almost bought one of those edwards les pauls but then i came across some info online that said they (newer models) were being made elsewhere (korea? ...can't remember now) and only set up in japan. ended up bailing. found something else that i'm really happy with though.

Interesting evolution of this thread.

Looking back, I went thru a few nice guitars, never really good amps for a dream metal/rock rig. My guitar needs changed, but with the latest axe, Music Man JP6 w/piezo, it seems to have all come together. No trying to sell that guitar as best, but the asymetrical neck is a 'must play to believe' sort of thing.

The last 18 months have added a great stereo Mesa rig consisting of a Rectifier and MKV. It is so much better than any rig I ever owned, or even played at music store. And all the pieces came together. and one ring to rule them all......
