I bought a Groove Tubes 12AX7 mullard copy on eBay the other day. The listing said two were available. I used BIN, paid immediately, and half an hour later I got an email saying they were sold out. Would I like a refund or a GT 5751 or a sovtek Mullard reissue? No, i would not.

I was pretty annoyed just because the item required immediate payment and the listing said there were two in stock. So they refunded my money, I complained in an email.

Then two days later they still have the listing up. I sent another email asking if they were going to kill the listing or keep trying to screw people who don't know what they're doing into buying a 5751 or a mullard-labeled sovtek. They got defensive.

I just think it's ridiculous to have a listing for an auction that you don't have product for. It takes three clicks to cancel an auction.

I agree completely with you. very off topic but i had bought some covers for the Nintendo Wii system for my parents on eBay and got the same hassle. They showed tons in stock and after i ordered i got the out of stock crap. Just a pain, and to me you should not be allowed to list what you don't have.

You might want to email Ebay and explain the situation. Or get on Live Help and talk to someone diretly. Just make sure you have all the item #'s ready, because they'll ask for them. Everytime I've talked to someone on Live Help, they've been very helpful and usually get it taken care of. Also, did you leave negative feedback for the seller? I would've waited til I got my $ back and then left a negative. Just some ideas for future reference I guess.

Yeah, that really sucks. It sounds like one of those ol' New York Camera store bait and switch routines.

If it were me, I'd contact E-bay on the listing. Part of game might be that if E-bay were to call them on it, they'd say, "Oh Yeah, we've got it in stock". Without an E-bay rep making a purchase, they couldn't prove otherwise, and so it goes, round and round. Just don't buy anything from that seller again.

well, they did a mutual cancellation thing. i agreed. i still may leave negative feedback. i fear my own negative feedback, though, as I have 100% feedback.

One of my friends messaged them about the tube and they gave him a different story, and then actually asked if he knew me. Heh.

You have your money and they have their tubes. You'd personally gain nothing by putting out the negative feedback. It's tempting, but I've never seen anyone rewarded by negative feedback. Now, if they took your money and kept it, that'd be a different story.

There are a lot of people out there with bad business practices. Consider yourself fortunate to have your money back. I think that at this point, let it go. They'll flame you back and you're reputation will be in question as a personal buyer/seller. Sometimes just the accusation will hurt you.

See, that is what pisses me off about Ebay. Phyrexia has every right to leave negative feedback, and the seller has no right to leave it. But you can bet your sweet a$$ that they would leave negative for you if you did for them.

IMHO, that is completely unfair of Ebay to let that happen. Phyrexia did nothing wrong, but could still get negative feedback from a shady seller.
