...I'll be leaving you guys. I'm sorry, but the Stiletto just gets the tone I've been longing to find in the Recto. The mids are right where I need them, although the low end isn't how I like with a Recto....but when you're playing in a band, who needs low end? :D

Just kidding. I'm not really leaving. I'm still going to keep my Recto, but it lost it's place tonight as my main amp. It's now my backup.

I've been searching for years for this tone, and I've found it.

Although, running both amps sounds killer, it's just not practical. I'd have to build a bigger road case, and then I don't know if it would fit in my back seat like it does now. Too many cables and more to go wrong at shows.

So, the Stiletto has become my main amp now. I feel like I'm cheating on my Dual Rec, but I'm still on board for Mesa.

..........if you feel a little guilty, you should!!!!!!

I have not sat down and tried a Stiletto at all. Im kind of afraid too. I like 3 channels. And my band mates pointed the other day I had a "great Steve Jones/ Sex Pistols" tone going on. Gulp.

I feel WAY guilty. I become attached to my gear, and the DR is the only amp I've kept for more than 2 years.

I went as far as to take the DR out of my road case and put the Stiletto in it's place.

There really isn't a lot of tonal difference between them, but the Stiletto has that high-mid thing going for it, where the Recto is low-mid voiced. I prefer the high mids though.

I remember trying out a Stiletto when they first came out and I was ready to trade in my Dual Rec on it. I put my Trident back to stock specs, and the Fluid Drive modded version won hands down.

I'd love to try a Stage II Deuce, but I'm afraid I would end up divorced

whats the ace like to the deuce? i have wanted to swap my recto for a stiletto but i reckon i only need 50 watts

HAHA!
I'm haunted by the Marshall I tried this summer so I am curious to demo a Stiletto Deuce as well but I am attached to my Dual since I've had it for a few years now and it sounds fantastic. I was REALLY interested to try the Stiletto series amps when they first came out but I didn't like them much. *sigh* I'll probably stick with what I have.

So you put the mod back in it then?

Dude, try an EQ in the loop with the stiletto. I ran my Allums GE7 in the loop with 100hz +2db and 200hz +1db. Thats it. Gives you some recto-ish bottom.

Definitely. I had it back to stock for all of about 5 minutes before putting the mod back. Long enough to go through the modes and play a couple chords, fiddle with the knobs, and turn it off.

I have to set up my effects all over again, so I may just add an EQ module in the loop of my effects unit and do like you said.

I'm waiting for next practice though...gonna see if I really need it.

Hmmm maybe I wouldn't like the stiletto. I can't stand high mids. Love the low mids.

It can be culture shock going from a recto to a stiletto. Plus they dial very differently. Ive had my recto since 98. Traded it for a duece I. Then traded that for a trident I hollywood. I was not happy with my first stiletto for about a month...then I figured it out. The mids can be tamed once you get to know the controls. But it will never sound like a recto.

Mikey...I've found once you get a taste for a high mids amp, it's hard to go back to a low mids amp. Be interested to see how you are feeling about the recto in a month. Don't worry about cheating though...Amps are like beer, they don't mind if you have another.
