Hey, guys.

Played one of DT song which was originally recorded with MK IV.

http://www.netmusicians.org/files/43-Forsaken_DR_100318_CUT_128.mp3

Used a Dual rec. rev F with 2x12 rectifier cab. & Gibson les paul.
No boost, no effects except for the reverb processing in Sonar on the sloppy lead playing..

It's hard to get sweet, pure Recto tone at such a low bedroom level volume..
And rev F doesn't have the mid range punch comparing to the rev G, I guess, while the F is
pretty bright for me to reduce the presence down to 9 o'clock.

What do you guys think?

How is that a Recto with a LES PAUL!? =-o

My Les Paul has stock pickups in it and it is far more suitable for blues and rock.

It's 57 Historic Black Beauty model that I'm using.
It's supposed to be sounded vintage, like you said, blues & rock..
But with DR, it's great for the heavy stuffs, too.
The stock pick ups (Burstbucker 1,2) are very clear & bright as well as it has decent
sustain, and comparing to my Dean TC Caddy, it has more clear, defined, solid sound.
(Dean Caddy sounds more bassy & muddy comparing to the Gibson while the Dean has a bit more gain with the Dimarzio pick ups)

My Les Paul is a 2002 Standard Premium Plus with a 60s neck. I'm pretty sure it is equipped with Burstbuckers too but the tone I get is much more of a mid rangey crunch. I also am playing a Dual Rec Rev F but I am using a homemade Thiele 2 x 12 with a Hellatone 60L (v30) and a G12m Heritage (greenback) in it.

I'm curious what your settings are since your tone is pretty stinking BRUTAL!

With the loop engaged

Send level in the back panel : at point 2 (The overall volume can be also controlled by this knob, as you know)

Master : 9 o'clock
Channel Volume : 9
Presence : 9
Bass : 9
Mid : 3
Treble : 2
Gain : 2
Rectifier 2x12 with THD V30
Shure SM57 (Almost center position)

I think a standard Gibson and custom series have different sound.
But I wish that my F had more focused mid range attack as the rev G, actually..
Keep tweaking, dude! The position & angle of the mic can also make vast difference of the sound,

Your Gibson and rev F DR will definitely sound as you wish, anyway!

Thanks!
