well, I went to pick up a BB preamp today at a local shop which happens to be right by a sam ash. So i got the BB, and was like eh what the hell, I'll go into sam ash. So they had a RG1527 and it felt really good, except the strings were too light, but the neck was good. The bridge pickup was good, but the necj pick up sucked. I think it must have been wired wrong cuz it sound like when you step a bloated dead person. But overall, with new pickups and some heavier stings I think I'd get that. It's J-custom for $900. How you can you beat that? 8)

well a RG1527 is not a J-Custom. J-Customs that i've seen are a bit nicer than the RG1527. dont get me wrong my favorite player used a 1527 every time i saw him play, but its definately not a top of the line 7string. i havent had a chance to play one, but i've looked into it extensively.

i owned a RG7420(korean) for about 4 years and loved it, i currently own a RG7620(japanese) and love it even more. the RG1527(japanese) has had many reports of paint chipping off easily, which i had the same problem with the 7420. the 1527 i dont think has gotoh tuners like the 7620 has, i think theyre just standard no name tuners. and the 1527 just has the standard V7 and V8 ibanez pickups, where as the 7620 had dimarzio pickups that were clamed to be Blazes at first but later found to be some designed by dimarzio thing. both have the wizard prestige 7 neck, but the 7620 is a one piece and the 1527 is a five piece.

either way, i love ibanez 7strings, but i bought my slightly beat up 7620 for almost half of the cost of a 1527, and it plays and sounds just as good if not better than what i'd expect from a 1527. i'd vote for buying a used rg7620 and use the extra money for straplocks and pickups.

or just buy a caparison, theyre the only company who's 7string i think i'd want more than an ibanez.

Oh, thanks for the info. i just thought that since it said "Team J Craft" on the back it was custom. I don't know, lol. But yeah, I was just surprised that they even had a 7 string and that it was actually a nice one, but I'll keep a look out for a 7620. Thanks

I've owned a bunch of 7's over the past 2 years
Carvin DC727
Hellraiser 7
BlackJack 7
Loomis sig
ESP M-207
Ibby 7620.
The Carvin is my favorite guitar (out of all of my guitars). I've got a set of BareKnuckle pickups in it and it kills.
My 7620 is my next favorite 7. I love that you can get these for so cheap on EBay.
I dropped in an Air Norton at the neck and an Evolution at the bridge and it sounds great.
Out of the 3 Schecters that I owned the Loomis is in another class from the Hellraiser and Blackjack.
I just sold my Loomis to help fund my Mark IV GAS, but it was right up there with the Carvin and the 7620 in terms of playability and build quality.
The only thing I didn't like about it was the EMG 707's (not a fan) but everything else about it was great.
It actually has a little bit of a slimmer neck profile than the Hellraiser or Blackjack.
The Blackjack and Hellraiser both felt like cheaper middle of the road guitars, but for the money they're not bad.
The LTD M-207 I had was just horrible.
