6l6 vs el34

i can't tell yet from my ears as I am still running the 6L6 in my LSC. My Mark III was simulclass and in EL-34 mode was much quicker breakup and not a lot of clean headroom - especially with humbuckers = that might be what you are looking for.

tonight, i will be playing tube experimenter as i have just changed 3 preamp tubes for my favorites and will also probably swap the current 6L6 for different ones, then try the EL-34s ... stay tuned. and watch the modern amp forum.

As for my Dual Rec, I liked the 6L6 a Little better than the EL34L, but for the LSC, the EL34L, the tube is the bomb. As for the difference, the EL's have a more pronounced mid range (think Lynch/ Marshall) and as for the 6L6, think Fender cleans and scooped mids. Enjoy!
