I'm having a problem with my .50 cal+ combo amp. I've had this amp for many years and have never had any problems with it. I've been the only owner. So, this might be a sign for a check up for my baby but...

I recently have been getting a gritty, dirty (bad dirty) sound, like a blown speaker sound. I've tried everything to get rid of this sound. I thought it was my PODxt but.... when I went to adjust the first VOLUME knob on the amp the sound faded away to nothing for like 20 seconds, then came back real distorted at a softer level then kicked back in to full volume. Anyone have an idea what happened??? Thanks in advance!

best place to start is the tubes. If it's been your main amp for years it's probably due for some tube replacement.
