I have had the Mark V for 5 months now. Despite the issues I had early on with the power tubes, I am very happy with the V.
My quest for tone by changing preamp tubes, speakers, etc... is basically a personal preference. Overall the amp is very versatile, it seems endless in character. I did have my heart set on the Roadster but came home with the Mark V. Not only did the first impression of the Mark V win me over, 5 months later I now believe I made the right choice in my purchase. I reviewed a few demo videos on the Mesa web site as well as a few others just for kicks. If I had gone a different route I may not have been as pleased as I am with the MKV. I may not be the greatest guitar player or even have any talent, but I know what sounds good. After some 30 years since I first began, and an 8 year absence due to a hand and elbow injury I thought my playing days were over. It is almost like learning everything over again, Most of it is comming back. I have been considering getting another amp, and if I do it will be the MarK V combo (perhaps with an EV stuffed in the hole).
