I just picked up an Express 2x12 and really enjoying it. It is in mint condition and is working perfectly.

The only negative is that the cable to the footswitch is missing. I see the sockets are 5 pin MIDI, but can anyone tell me a standard cable will work - or does the Express need a proprietary cable?

Thanks.

Mesa answer - A MIDI cable won't work, a DIN 5 pin is needed.

Midi cable wont fit. It's a different plug.
Just pulled one out to look at it. You're gonna have to get it from Mesa. Boogies prices aren't too bad. You can get a Celestion V30 made in England cheaper than what others have the Made in China ones for.

Thanks for the response.

The amp seems to be using what I guess to be an Standard DIN cable from the old days, my dad's Ampex Reel to Reel used a DIN to control the machine from a wired remote.

There is a MIDI cable that I picked up at Guitar Center that uses the same 5 pin male plugs at the end that are on the Express, but it only works on the 2nd channel, won't switch over to #1.

I did just what you suggested and ordered the 25 Mesa cable - $23.00 from Guitar Center, hopefully it will be here tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Hi! Good idea to buy the Mesa Boogie cable. On an ordinary 5-pin DIN cable, the metal cylinder around the pins is not connected to anything. In the Mesa Boogie plug is is used as well. I used a 5-pin DIN plug together with an ordinary computer network cable. I had to connect the cable to all five pins plus the metal cylinder.
