Hey Guys,

Sorry I know speakers have been mentioned a lot, but.
I have a 5:25 1 x 10 inch original speaker.
I did read as many posts, to find some answers.

I also have a Boogafunk - 1 x12 Thiele cab, I always use them together.

But I have only just realized the Boogafunk cab has the wrong speaker in it - It has a Celestion V30, not a EVM12L.

So I want to change the Speaker in the BF Cab to the EVM12L.
I was also thinking of getting the Celestion Gold 1 x 10 inch for the 5:25.
I heard a lot of guys here, very happy with the Gold.

But would I notice a Difference? or would the BF Cab take away on benefit of the new Gold?

Any help greatly appreciated,

Gezza.

Sorry, we have flogged speakers to death.

Just found this youtube page.

For me the Celestion V30 sounds the best.
They are using a Revera Thiele Cab.

So perhaps the V30 is fine for me and I will achieve nothing by replacing it with a EVM12L.

Any thoughts,

Gezza.

Change one thing at a time.

The 5:25 speaker switch will have audible differences - how much its hard to say as speaker efficiencies and tone come into it.

As for the BF cab.... each speaker has its own Thiele cabinet parameters. Tone will change - its hard to say what you are looking for - keep listening and go with what you like.

The good news is all the speakers mentioned are equal efficient with sensitivity at 100 dB, so they should all start off being about equal in loudness.
The 5:25's open back may make whatever is in it seem louder on stage, and the Thiele cab will sound louder out in the audience.
An EVM 12L will have a ton more bottom than a Vintage 30.
Some of this will depend on where you are standing in relation to your mini stack. YMMV, etc.
But many have used similar combinations with good results.
Changing one thing at a time is good advice.

v30 in a 1x12 open back cabinet is probably one of the worst combinations for a 5:25...it lacks bottom end and has that hi mid "fizz" which sounds bad...

v30 2x12 or 4x12 in a closed back cab gives a totally different sound and much better tone, especially for hi gain and pristine clean...

i swapped my v30 for an eminence legend gb128 and it sounds sick with 5:25, almost as 2x12, lots of low end and sweet mids...

Hey Guys,

Finally had the chance to have a good listen.

1 x 12 Boogafunk Cab with V30 - Sounded very clear on the clean setting.
Notes just sound great and sweet.
On the drive setting lots of bottom and chugga.
I also felt that a better matched speaker would sound bigger.

1 x 10 in the combo stock mesa E50, I went ah yuk, are you kidding.
Very harsh and shrill on the clean, very weak on the drive channel.

I can't believe that I have been using these 2 together for so long and never played them separately.

So going to replace the 1 x 12 BF cab with an eminence Delta Pro A first then replace the 1 x 10 inch speaker.

I have a 525 110 and really dig the Weber 10V (or is it the 10VS?). Better bottom than the stock Mesa Eminence, but still plenty of those lovely mids and sweet mid-high end chime.

Now I used to run it with a Boogie Thiele with an EVM and liked it well enough. But I now much prefer the 525 along with my Avatar Trad openback with (get this) the Mesa BlackShadow MC90. The added mids and less bottom of the MC90 instead oo the EVM simply pairs beautifully with the 525/Weber 10. I am totally sold on this tonal combo and have zero desire to try anything else.
