Just wanted to share my excitement.
Just had my first gig with my 5:25 plus, unmic-ed at a decent size club.
This amp just cut through like a knife and sounded great all night long.

So if anyone playing rock is on the fence about the 25 watts not being enough..... forget about it.

The cleans weren't that clean, but to me sounded even better with a little edge to them.

Reall happy and so glad I went with theis Mesa!

ofc it's giggable, mesas 25w is a lot of volume especially through a good cabinet...and if you want 100% clean you can always mic it...but i like dirty cleans also, it's r'n'r...enjoy that great little amp!

I have yet to gig my 5:25 but the few times I gigged my LSS it was in 15 watt mode and had plenty of punch and clarity on the clean channel (but I like a little hair on the clean channel). This amp in 15 watt mode should be no different.

Pickup choice can also help w/ clarity & sparkle on a "medium power" amp:
* true single-coil pickups
* "coil-split" humbuckers (acting like single-coils)
* lower-output humbuckers (e.g. Gibson '57 Classic/PAF, versus more modern-voiced options like Gibson 490R/490T)

My Lonestar Classic 1x12 has all the headroom I need, even at the 50-watt setting. Haven't had a need to push the envelope w/ the 100-watt setting and diode rectifier configuration, but that would likely tackle even the hottest pickups w/o "undesired" distortion in pre or power amp circuits.

But I'm totally on board with the Express 5:25 Plus. With the weight, size, tone flexibility and "adequate for most situations" power, it's a versatile and capable amp. It stretched the budget, but it was 100% worth the investment.

Get both, and you'll be totally covered!! :)
