Gigged my Mark V combo tonight. That and my G System. Gigged it before but set up in very rushed circumstances. And didn't feel comfortable with it. So went back to my 800's for the 4 gigs in between then.
Mighty praise for the amp from the soundman. Really nice, made me really comfortable. He plays through a dual rec.
'I've spent the last week plugging in at home, eq'ing the amp while it's really loud. Near halfway up the master volume. Because I've found the tonality of the amp changes as the volume control goes up. Basically that you can't eq a quiet amp. I also suspect that the power switching is there more as a tonal variable, rather than a power scaling thing.
Anyway, stuck with the sound I dialled at home. Soundman delighted with it. No harshness, scoop or flub for him to get rid of.
And in 28 years of gigging, the best sound I've heard come back through the monitors. Really comfortable, really loved it. Smooth and big and growling.

Nice! Mind me asking what modes you used and style of music? I definitely agree on how the tone and feel open up as the volume is increased. The difference to my ears is quite dramatic on channel 3. At low volumes it feels a bit compressed and flat but at volume it's a thing of absolute beauty. Musical and mean at the same time.

Interested to hear your settings too.
Like any tube amp, this one does shine when you get to stretch its legs so to speak.

Also were you using the cab clone or mic for monitor feed and FOH?

I'm just playing nonsense thrash/punk crossover. Channel 3 on 2C+ and channel 1 on clean. I use EMG's and find channel 1 hard to keep as clean as I'd like. Without thinning out too much. Also, I had concerns about the C90 speaker. I wasn't/ am not in love with that speaker. Seemed to come together last night though in a big room. It was mic'd, the soundman obviously sorted any differences out. The sound from the monitor in front of me was very similar to the sound coming from behind me.

No eq on clean.

Not much scoop on the graphic eq. I was looking at the Hetfield settings a couple of weeks ago. And saw how he whacked up the 80hz and dropped the 240hz. I don't like the settings that are supposedly his (I don't think he uses those actual settings and just put the dials in silly positions to mess with people). I like how you can keep the thump on the 80hz and that having the 240hz relatively lower keeps articulation.

Here's what it's made redundant (sort of, no promises)
