Hello all

I was looking to get some opinions on a mesa 212 cabinet to go with my roadster 212 combo. what is the differnece between the roadster 212 ans standard rectifier 212. Any info will be appreciated

Thanks

Honestly, go with an Orange PPC212. Much, much better cab. I have an Orange PPC 212 myself, as well as an Avatar Contemporary 212 (Orange knockoff) cabinet. To me, both sound identical. I got the Avatar as a cheaper option for larger shows, when I need the volume of 4x12s. I like the focused sound direction and the overall low end of the cabinet. For clean tones, I would suggest something other than V30 in this cab (if cleans are all you want, some Alnicos or K100s would be great), but the V30s shine in applications for dirty tones.

I have a Roadster by the way. Just my two-cents of course.

the roadster cab is the same as the stiletto cab, except with black piping (stiletto has silver) the recto 2x12 is larger

Totally agree. I compared my old Mesa 2X12 to an Orange for an hour in a shop and ended up walking away with the Orange and trading my Mesa for store credit. The Orange 2X12 cabs just sound more like a guitar amp should. Better mids, a more open full ranged sound and cut through more. The Mesa in comparison had AGGRESSIVELY scooped mids and sounded unnatural and very bottom-endy. You would think the scooped mids are a good thing as well as the massive boomy lows, but when you get on stage and do a sound check it's another story. I always had problems with the Mesa, but the Orange is full and "wide" sounding.

Sometimes what works in a music store or playing your rig by yourself does NOT work in a band or professional setting. I still have my "black" Orange cab and am pairing it with a Trem O Verb Head I just got.

Just my thoughts.
