Hi,
This sort of follows the recent thread about stereo PA's and cabs,
however...
I am now in search of the "best" arrangement for "speakerizing" my
2:Fifty. I plan to build my own cabs, basically an array of four
1X12s, two closed and two open back. The key issues being portability,
stereo spread and tone diversity.
My main concern is best matching the power output of each side of the
2:Fifty with appropriately powered speakers.
I understand that it is best to have the speakers rated at a lower wattage
than the amps output, so as to produce best efficiency/speaker drive
without toasting the amp.
Working from the specs, I narrowed down my selection to a pair of
Celestion G12M's (greenbacks) at 25W/8 ohm each,
and a pair of G12H's at 30W/8 ohms.
This should provide the right impedance when working with just one
pair of cabs. When all four are set up, each side's two cabs (L & R)
will hook in parallel, so each channel on the amp would "see" 4 ohms.
Any input and criticism on this sort of setup and speaker/cab type matching would be most welcome!
ThanX -
