Just got another Studio Pre. Used to have one a few years back with a 2:90 and it sounded better than any Mesa Boogie Head I've ever owned ( 3 MKIII's one with the C+ mod, a MKIV, A DC 10, 2 Dual Recto's, one Triple Recto...).

Seems the price for 2:90's have jumped up significantly. Been reading about the 50/50's and 2:50's. My question is, are the 50/50 and 2/50 loud enough in a band situation? I'm not a bedroom player, could care less how the amp sounds at low volumes etc. I play in a band where the other guitarist uses a MKIII, our drummer is loud etc....

if the 50/50 isn´t loud enough for you, you must be deaf. ;)

i own the old 50/50, a dual recto and a roadster head. normaly i play with both heads in stereo, but the last three weeks i played the rehearsals with an MP-1 plus the 50/50 and belive me, it was loud enough. i turned up the volume on both poweramp channels to 3.5 and not more. after my bandmades gone home, i turned up the amp to 6-7 and it was way too loud! if i would have played this level during the rehearsal, our drummer would have had problems to hear his snare drum. :D
btw. i used a 2x12 cab loaded with eminence governers.

I run my studio pre through my 2:50 and I can just about blow out windows and rupture drummers eardrums without cranking it to much. Cool stuff!!! :D

My 20/20 is loud enough, the 50/50 has no pb blowing a wall away....

Trust me, the 20/20 is loud enough to cover pretty much any situation you'll ever encounter, unless you're playing stadiums.

I just got my new rack with a quad and a 50/50 in it ... i was concerned about the volume too but that thing is WAY loud! im playin it through a 4x12 cab along with a drummer who plays e-drums through an 800 watt PA ... and i've got my volume around 1.5 at the low power setting and the quad volume at like 2 (with the cab NOT miced)... so yes, the 50/50 should be loud enough for you
