I have a Mark 5 head on order and am thinking about getting a Weber 15" speaker to go with it.

Does anyone have a suggestion for good/great 1x15 cabinet?

Thanks!

I have been running my Mark IV through a 1x15 Mesa semi-open cab with a massive EV. It sounds incredible and I am planning on using it with my V when it arrives. Couple that with a Recto 2x12 or 4x12 and the tone is insane. Mesa doesn't make them anymore, but I keep seeing the 1x15 mesa bass cabs and think... hmmmm.

I'm not sure if Mesa will still make that cab on a custom order basis. It is a guitar cab too. My suggestion is to try the Mesa bass cabs... which is what I'm about to do.

Thanks for the info. I've thought of a bass cabinet, but most (all?) of them have a cross-over and a tweeter. I'll check with my dealer if Mesa can custom build a 1x15 guitar amp.

Otherwise, I've considered Weber's 1x15 guitar amp. The Mills bass 1x15 cabinet (http://millsacoustics.com/115B.html) does not appear to have a crossover
or tweeter, though.

With my Mark IV I use a 1-15" cab from Lopo, I got mine in triple black (vinyl, grill, hardware) to match the Mk IV head. I loaded it with an Eminence Commonwealth speaker which is a JBL-D130 clone. This cab rendered my two Mesa/Thiele EVM-12L cabs to back up duty. The only problem would be that the MK V head would be to wide to fit on top of the cab. Lopo does however sell both guitar & bass 15" cabs as well as custom orders, so you could have them make a wider one to fit the Mark V head. The choice of the Commonwealth speaker is an excellent choice for those who like the EVM type sound, it's clean & undistorted with a lot more punch then the EVM's, as well as better lows & highs.

In fact Fender uses this speaker in the ’65 Twin Reverb Custom 15 amp they came out with recently: http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=2173000010

t0aj15: Thanks for the info and links on the cabinet and speaker. The Commonwealth sounds like it'd some nice diversity to the speakers in my current combo amps, LSS and Ace. Much appreciated.
