I am looking to buy myself a 1x12 cab for my Mark V head. I own a 2x12 recto horizontal cab and love it but am looking for something lighter to gig clubs with.
I am wondering what is the big difference between the 3/4 back cab and the widebody ported cab sound wise. The ported cab is slightly more expensive. Both come with P90's vrs the recto's V30's.
I have done a search on the forums and found a few posts where people had mentioned which one they preffered but cant find a comparison. Ideally I would get one of each but at first I can only afford one. I play mostly rock/blues/jazz but still crank the gain now and then. If you had a choice of one ... which one and why? How do they sound compaired to the recto 2x12.
I have to drive an hour to check them out in person and atm they dont have both in stock.
Just looking for opinions!

Thanks

I have a widebody openback w/C90 stacked on a widebody ported closedback w/V30. If I were only using one I'd use the ported cab. BTW, the widebody ported came from the factory with the v30 and a Boogie logo.

If I were only using one, it would be the open back as it spreads the sound out. Together they sound pretty good though. I took my open back to a blues jam, and it sounded awesome by itself.

Thanks for the input. I just found another thread I must have missed before talking about the differences between the two.

I still cant decide though :? I may lean toward the 3/4 back as the Mesa dealer I just called told me he thinks they are discontinued but he has one in stock. I dont see them on the Mesa web site either.

I checked them both out and decided to go with the 3/4 back. I think the ported cab sounded brighter and boomier at the same time. I allready have a recto cab for the boom so I wanted to add a different flavor. I'm diggin it!
