    Mark 1 Tube Layout

I just picked up a nice NOS Mullard 12Ax7 and a nice NOS GE 12Ax7 and a RCA 12At7. I got these from a TGP member 59Vampire. I have to say, I bought the Mullard only and he forgot to ship it for a week. When I e-mailed him, he felt terrible and included the other two for free. Great guy. So...

    New to me Mark I!

Thanks for that info. It is an Accutronics. It was mounted on the back panel at one time. I put it back on there and it doesn't seem to make too much difference, but I'm getting a maple cabinet in tomorrow and will want it correct.

    GE 6L6 GC for a Mark 1?

Great info. Thanks. I just had the amp serviced and re-capped just after it arrived. It sounds great. Having some "crackling" on the low E and A strings at high volume. I think it is possible that either I have a loose socket on one of the power tubes, or its the speaker. It doesn't...

    GE 6L6 GC for a Mark 1?

I'm not sure how to determine the bias on my amp. I just picked it up. It's a '77 Mark 1. The shrill sound is what I dislike about the amp. I was attibuting it to the Altec, but it may very well be the tubes. Would I have to take it to a tech?

    GE 6L6 GC for a Mark 1?

I'm thinking about picking up 2 matched NOS GE 6L6GC for my Boogie Mk 1. I'll be replacing a couple of JJ's. Any recommendations or comments on the possible tonal variations? *I'm rather new to the tubes and am looking for a bit warmer tone.

    New to me Mark I!

Great info. Thanks. Repair on the Altec looks to be around 150 bucks. Not knowing much about speakers, is that worth it? The Eminence Delta 12 is only 105 dollars.

    New to me Mark I!

Well, my amp is back and sounds wonderful through my Marshall 4 x 12 cabinet. When pushed at volume or high gain through my Altec, though, it crackles and buzzes on the low E and A strings. I'm pretty sure it's the speaker. I am looking for a replacement speaker. Over at Birds and Moons...

    Custom 1x12 Extension Cab

If you haven't found anyone, I am having one built right now and the work looks excellent. Probably about half of what Mesa charges. You'll have to supply the speaker. I'd be glad to put ya'll in touch if you need it still.

    New to me Mark I!

So.. I took the amp to a tech here locally. I was not able to consistently dial in a sound. At times, it was perfect. Other times it crackled and hissed. The tech replaced 6 caps, cleaned it up and said it sounds like a new amplifier. He said everything looked original and had just run...

    New to me Mark I!

So, where are your reverb units mounted on your Boogies? I think mine has been re-mounted wrong on the floor. Shouldn't it be on the back panel?

    New to me Mark I!

Really lovin' this amp! I'm impressed with the subtle sounds that can be coaxed from the right hand. Very good range. The Altec sounds a bit shrill at high volume and gain and really wobbles on the low end, but when I plugged into my 4x12 Marshall cabinet, that went away. I can't imagine...

Oy! Anyone own one of these that can answer my speaker out question above? Thanks in advance!

    New to me Mark I!

It's A 836. The speaker jacks aren't labeled. Is it (from left to right as your looking at it 4-8-4 ohms or 8-4-4 ohms ? Thanks. Darren.

One more question- Where can I find the serial number. I was told it was in the 300's. Darren.

    New to me Mark I!

Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping its a reverb switch. Whats the best way to find out? I'm guessing a good tech, but I don't know one locally. Would another picture help? There is a faint crackling (like firewood) with high gain (and volume) at the low end that happens mainly with my...

    New to me Mark I!

I just picked up this 1977 Mark I: Good price. Initially, very disappointed. Sounded like crap! Not having any Boogiexperience, I posted on another forum for help. Some useful stuff. First, the reverb tank was not secured other than 2 oversize wood screws that were not screwed in more...
