New Amp Day: Mesa Mark IV

congrats. the mark 4 is a great amp. I also have a carvin legacy and a marshall tsl100. the mark 4 holds its own. I just finished rewiring it tonight. funny part is I bought the imbuya hardwood combo for $750. sold the footswitch for $150, and the combo shell for $350. so I think I got one of...

    Warehouse Guitar Speakers...

i have a lopoline cab loaded with veteran 30s. they sound like vintage 30s without the upper midrange harshness. the bass is a tiny bit weaker though. i would get them instead of v30s again.

    Question about the Quad

the quad into the jcm and a ajcm cab will sound great, but not as aggresive. imo the marshall cabs kind of scoop the mids and smooth out the tone. great when mixed with another cab, but different when its by itself.

    head as a poweramp

i run 1 side of my quad into a rackmounted simul-satellite. it sounds great to me. the other side goes into a carvin t100 w/ el34s. nice compliment of tones.

    Studio Pre or Mark III/IV

from my recollection of the studio, it falls between the quad and mark 4 gain wise. i would go with a poweramp with 6l6s to get more bottom end and headroom. the classic 60/60 is cheap and sounds great.

    Quad setting and Control

i have a quad and a simul sat. go from the outputs of the quad to the fx return of the simulsat. the front master volume, tone and graphic are active.
