Recommend a cabinet for the M6 Carbine

I'm seriously considering getting an M6 Carbine. I'm actually a guitarist, but the last couple of years I've started playing a little bass, and I also want to record it. Because of limited space, I don't want anything bigger than a 2x10 (or 2x12). I mainly play rock, hard or not so hard, but can...

    Pop when switching between channels

Tried an Electra Dyne today and switched from clean to HI and it gave off a loud pop. I switched on the front panel, not with a footswitch. Thought that wouldn't happen with a modern amp. Faulty or user mistake?

Harsh tones from IV and IIc+

Recently been trying to improve my recording technique with my Mark IIc+ and IV. They both sound awesome in the room, but as soon as I stick my head in front of the cabinet (v30 loaded Marshall AV) i hear some really harsh mid-frequency tones. Tried to record them using different mics and...

    Bass cabinet for guitar?

I've been looking for EVM-12L loaded thieles for some time with little success. There's a Mesa/Boogie Diesel 2-15 bass cabinet with EV EVM-15L's for sale not too far away from me now. Just wondered if it would work out good as a guitar cabinet. Any opinions on the EVM-15L's?

    Mk IV plate voltages

The plate voltages for a simul-class/100w Mk IIc+ is somewhere around 450v-460v, right? What is the plate voltages in the Mk IV? Joey, please chime in  paw

    7581a brands

A simple question for the knowledgeable. Are the NOS GE and RCA versions of the 7581a tubes of the same construction and quality as the ones made by Philips/Sylvania, or are these just rebrands of the Philips/Sylvania 7581a? I have the chance to buy NOS 7581a's for $60.00 a piece, but they're...

    60's Mullard 12ax7s value

I have the possibility to buy two unused Mullard 12ax7s from the sixties for about $200.00. Would you say this is a good deal or nothing special? I've just started to look into the NOS market and my knowledge isn't the best, although I'm trying to learn. How much is the going price for these...

    Fuse sizes for Mk II

I went to the store to buy some backup fuses for my old Mk II. When I came back home I checked out the existing fuse in the amp and realized I'd bought too small fuses. So I checked out some site on the net, and it looks like I'm gonna need the 3AG (32mm/1,25") fuse. Is this right?

    Two 1x12's or one 2x12?

For practicality I can only see advantages going with two 1x12's. Soundwise, how do they differ from a 2x12? I'm probably going with a two EVM12L setup in either case, thieles if I'm going with two 1x12's. I may want to try out the 3/4 open back option with one of them. So, is there any good...

    Tubes vs. x-ray machine?

I'm going to the states this summer (howdy), and I may be bringing me back some tubes from the trip. Is there any way the x-ray machine on the airport can cause damage to my precious tubes? I think probably not, but it would be interesting to hear some experiences/theories on this topic :D paw

    Listen to this clip...

http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/68063-mk4problem.mp3 ...and tell me what the hell is wrong with my Mark IV :( Although you can hear it, I'll describe the problem: It's some kind of weird distortion that sounds very fuzzy and greatly reduces sustain and volume. If I strike the strings hard...

    Changed tubes in c+ today...holy ****!

So I bought a IIc upgraded to a +, about a year ago, and it sounded good, but not as good as I though it could sound. The guy I bought it from sent it with mesa tubes (probably with a lot of playtime on them) and some random assortment of 12ax7's. So, today I changed them out with SED =c= 6l6s...

Who will build me a head shell?

I would like someone to build me a new head shell for my M/B Mark IIc. The original one doesn't look too good. I think I want one in hardwood as I think they look incredible. Dovetail joints would be a plus. Of course I need to look at prices before I decide:) I'd need all holes drilled in...

Full sets for IV and C+

I'm going to buy a few full sets of tubes for my Mark IV and IIc+ (simul-class) for me to experiment with. First question: Can I switch the sets between both amps, or do they work with different voltages? Second question: How can I know if a tube is "safe" in regards to voltages in my amps...

My Mark IV just died on me:(

I bought the amp new about 2 years ago. Occasionally it's been acting a bit strange. Some times it would make a noise which resembles the sound when you turn a scratchy pot, without touching anything. And some times the amp would operate like it should. On some occasions, when the scratchy noise...

    Tubes for my c+

I've to say SORRY to begin with as this question probably has been asked a few 100 times before me, but I need "customized" answers from you:p I received my upgraded IIc+ (= 100 tranny) with EQ, simul and reverb some months ago and I haven't been able to play it all too much as I'm a student...

Cost of getting a EQ and + upgrade to the IIc

I'm wondering to buy a cheap IIc and upgrade it to a +, and also have them install the graphic EQ. I've heard that the "+" upgrade costs $400.00. Do you know what it would cost to get a EQ installed as well? Sorry to bother you, Mesa don't like to answer mails.. Thanks!

    Custom thiele + speaker options

Hey guys! I was thinking of getting myself a thiele with the EVM12L speaker in it for easier handling when going to jam with friends. I may even get two. I'd play it through my Mark IV and I wonder what other speaker would compliment the EVM the best with my Mark. I'm pretty clueless when it...

    King of the Mark III's

I'm a bit curious about the Mark III(s) as I've never tried one. I thought it would be fun to check out the popularity of the different stripes/editions, and hear some opinions about them, so I made this poll/debate  Rules: 1. You should have tried at least two different editions to...

Which Jackson pro series should I get?

Hi guys! I'm currently on the lookout for a good hardtail guitar to do a good variety of styles..everything from blues and jazz to Dream Theater and Metallica. I mostly play heavy, but go softer once in a while, and I understand that the guitar can't be the perfect guitar for every style. I...
