    Mesa 20/20 Deep Mod

Actually, the drop in gain is negligible and can be worked around by setting the preamp volume louder (very simple) or the power amp louder. In a practical, real life setup, this should not be an issue. If it bugs you from a theoretical standpoint, another way to get a little more gain would be...

    Tube screams

There's nothing wrong with the Ibanez Tube Screamer, really. Look for the Maxon ones.

    Mesa 20/20 Deep Mod

Nice to see that so many of you tried this mod. :D In terms of tweaking the cap value, there's a lot of room for experimentation and really, depending on your preamp, you might want to cut some bass out to tighten things up. In saying that, my view is that the power amp shouldn't need to cut...

Nice job on taking my mod and making a product out of it

How to rack ADA MP-2 and Marshall JMP-1 together

The BOSS LS-2 is a $79 guitar pedal. That's a lot cheaper than buying all the gear suggested above.

How to rack ADA MP-2 and Marshall JMP-1 together

The BOSS LS-2 does this (as I already posted earlier in this thread), without noise so no need for a noise gate.

    2:90 2:Ninety Bias mod?

I'm actually working on this. I'm trying to figure out how to bias the class A section separately from the Class AB section.

How to rack ADA MP-2 and Marshall JMP-1 together

If you have a single power amp and want to run both simultaneously or have the option of switching them in/out, a BOSS LS-2 pedal is the best solution. A simple Y cable will not work because it will load the output of your preamps, lowering their output and degrading the signal. Edit - The...

    2:90 2:Ninety Bias mod?

Has anyone done this? I'd like to be able to adjust the bias in my 2:90 so I can try different tubes. It looks like 2 of the tubes running at the -57 bias voltage are the ones I want to play around with since they are the Class AB pair while the other two are the class A power tubes with...

    2:90 owner

Changing the tubes out shouldn't be your first option. That's gonna get expensive real quick. Do the basics first as outlined in my 1st post to you. I'd also add that you should clean the presence and volume controls with tuner cleaner.

Wow. Great deal. For the volume fading in/out, try cleaning all the jacks, cleaning / re-tensioning all tube sockets and then, changing the 12AX7 tubes and

    Live volume question...2:90/Studio pre

I like to run the 2:90 at the halfway mark (12:00) and adjust the preamp accordingly. It gives me a good point of reference.

    Mesa 20/20 Deep Mod

+1 Most people think they need more power, but really, the 44watts that the 20/20 pushes out is a LOT of volume and with the deep mod, its an awesome little amp. Should'nt have sold mine. I now have a 2:90, that I use for heavy metal. The 20/20 was just sweet sounding, prob. due to the EL-84...

    12AX7 Tubes for Quad Preamp

The closest thing you'll find is Ei. Great tubes but can be microphonic in high gain applications. Use them wisely in key spots and use Tung Sols for the rest.

    2:50 VS 50/50 VS 2:90

Trust me, the 20/20 is loud enough to cover pretty much any situation you'll ever encounter, unless you're playing stadiums.

    Mesa 20/20 Deep Mod

Yes, you could do that. You could also make the deep mod foot-switchable, per channel, with a stereo footswitch or both channels at once with a dpdt toggle switch & stereo cable.

    Orange Amps

Those tiny Terror amps are absolutely amazing. I had one for a short while and loved it. I sold it to finance a VOX AC30 but I'll eventually get another one. Orange is supposed to come out with a dual terror, dual channel version of the tiny terror. They really kick. A lot of gain and...

    Studio pre problem

Clean and retension all jacks. Clean all pots Clean all tubes sockets See if the problem persists after that.

    Two Studio Pre questions...

For question #2, you'll have to do more that just remove the wires that connect to the jacks. You'd have to disconnect the recording out circuitry itself.

    Mesa 20/20 Deep Mod

    Yup, those would be them.
