REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

Wow. So *anything* that goes wrong with your amp, regardless, will not be covered by warranty if you use EL34s? That seems a tad draconian. Also, I'm guessing that there's a class of failures that might be indicative of using EL34s, but I'm guessing that a lot of it would not be something...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I gave up in the first round after getting one wrong and having no idea about the next two. From then on I just tried to pick the ones I liked best. Almost all of them were the reissue.

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

It certainly doesn't seem to be commonly reported. If it's a defective unit he might need to just return it. I've certainly gotten that kind of issue with a number of my Marks at different times, but I was usually really pushing things harder than was reasonable.

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

How do you like it? It's a little hard to tell how it sounds from a phone recording, but I'm not complaining. It's the hottest of takes, right? Nice playing :)

Shout out: EM Custom Midi Amp Controllers

I've been using these for a few years now, and they are fantastic drop-in replacement for the foot controllers on Mesa's modern, non-midi amps. https://emcustom.eu/amp-midi-switcher-interface.html These units are *tiny*, apparently powered by the footswitch jack itself, and can be paired with...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I have the feeling that Mesa/Gibson were hyperaware of the IIC+'s association with metal and were trying to demonstrate some range to keep it from being pigeonholed. But this might have been too far in the other direction.

    NAD! Mark III Purple Stripe

:D that's awesome. Thank you for sharing it

    NAD! Mark III Purple Stripe

This is so neat. Mine doesn't even have the reverb, so it's just an S, but I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. I actually prefer my Purple to my Blue DRG by a long shot (don't say anything to it, it's super sensitive and can get really aggressive). Anyway, super happy for you. Love to...

    Gigging with my VII tonight

I'd love to see them! Glad you had a great time.

    Gigging with my VII tonight

45W might be a lot better for recording. I've certainly heard some people blow the door off by recording Van Halen, etc, in 45W instead of 90W

    Gigging with my VII tonight

90 all the way for that set. I thought about using Crunch on 45 a few week ago but like the 90W sound better in the rehearsal space.

    Gigging with my VII tonight

Good clarification: Technically, I used: Skinny Clean (GEQ), Crunch (GEQ), Mk IV (GEQ). Skinny + GEQ (usual V) hits a good approximation of Fat without, to my ears. Although I'm certainly up for hearing other people's experiences.

    Gigging with my VII tonight

I wasn't very original: Skinny Clean, Crunch, and Mark IV mode

    Gigging with my VII tonight

The amp was stellar. Using the QC as a pedalboard caused some problems. I ended up with a super loud chattering sound coming out of the amp when I first powered everything up that didn't go away until I physically unplugged everything. The monitoring situation was really challenging - my...

    Gigging with my VII tonight

I expect to be the weak link in my signal chain. Using the VII with a Quad Cortex as a switching control/effects unit. I realized that I can use the master volume on the QC as the amp master volume, and have an stabilized expression pedal (stays still when you take your foot off of it) that I'm...

Mark V QUESTION ON HEAD OR COMBO

I've owned a couple of V:90s. The last time around I bought a combo, and then ordered a head shell from Mesa as they are a snap to transfer the chassis over to. I stand by my decision. I honestly use it in combo format the most, but sometimes I'll get tired of it and use it as a head with one...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

Totally. I got mine in 2012 and there was no mention of variac being required that I can recall. Now it's called out repeatedly throughout the manual.
