REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

It involves 2 additional LDRs and 1 mini potentiometer. It also involves moving the FS jack elsewhere. In my case, it replaces the gain boost jack underneath the chassis. The challenge is to hook up these LDRs ont the existing matrix, which has very limited power available. The new LDR also...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

That’s a mod for adding a second Volume 1 pot. It allows you to have the clean indépendant from the lead. John Petrucci has it on at least one of his 2C+

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

Unless you are implementing the V1 mod. This mod is the only mod that should be executed on these mkIIC+ IMHO…

    Ciao Mk2b…

The V1 mod brings this amp much more versatile. Proudly, I have added a + mark above the power cord.

Vintage Mark-style PCB and chassis kit

Wait, wait, wait this need to be qualified . WHATEVER Gibson will do as a reissue if there is really one, it will never be as precise as what you have done Jay! The quality of your build is way better than any modern Mesa Boogie. I can garantee if there is a reissue, it will be a modern...

    Ciao Mk2b…

Actually, the guy who sell it to me was convinced it was a C, because of its serial number. He was playing bass with it, exclusively on the clean channel into a GK cab. I should have noticed the missing pull pot on the bass knob… When I came home and opened up the chassis, I realized the board...

    Ciao Mk2b…

Jay, without your efforts and dedication to your project, I would never have been able to convert this amp, which has been sold to me under a 2C. Your board is perfectly built, typos on the silkscreen is not a big deal, knowing all the details you had to deal with and the obstacles you managed...

    Ciao Mk2b…

When I bought this Mk2b, my intention was to transform it into a Mk2c+. After having built the headshell and the cabs, it is time for the main operation….

Mark Series Production Numbers for Mark I, IIA, IIB, IIC, IIC+ & III

I own a MKIIb, with the rp-9c preamp board that has been produced in June 1983, with serial 11005b. It doesn’t fit into this list. I understand this list has some exception, based on what the customer has ordered.

Looking for gut shots of mkIIB RP-9C circuit board

Indeed, this amp always require adjustment when switching channel. It is more obvious with the reverb, it can’t be used at all onnthe lead channel. Bass setting also need to be increased on the clean channel as comoared to the lead channel. This is why the tone stack got separated on the...

Looking for gut shots of mkIIB RP-9C circuit board

Some boards might have error on them too, where QC didn’t catch. This was all manual at the time.

Looking for gut shots of mkIIB RP-9C circuit board

There is a lot of version and mod, and only one schematic available, which is in most case innacurate.

    MkIIb restoration completed

Here is the result of the MkIIb I bought for restoration. After the headshell, it deserved two little 1x12 cabinets with V30. The slanted one is open back, and the straight one is closed back. All homemade, using mainly Padauk. I guess now it is worth more than I paid for it! The next step will...

Vintage Mark-style PCB and chassis kit

When I have built the mkiv clone, my second prototype was using relays. You might experience some popping noise when switching chanels, unless you mute the amp like the newer models during the switching.
