    Mark VII and Fryette PS2?

Yes, the clean channel cranked sounds fantastic. Especially the Crunch channel. The PS-2 seems like a great piece of gear for amp enthusiasts in general. I forgot that they were fairly expensive. Now they are harder to find too. Is there a huge difference between the PS-2A and the PS-100?

    Mark VII and Fryette PS2?

I was looking for a PS-2 potentially, I don't see any available on Reverb or Sweetwater. There used to be plenty. I was more interested in using it with thew new UA pedals or something like that - and having the attenuator would be nice too. I just realized that even with my Mark V, there is...

    My first Mesa Amp

Agreed, I almost never crank the gain unless it is at home on a master volume setting. And even then, only usually on the clean channel. I also don't really use the 10-watt setting as the master volume difference is like an eighth of a turn and it doesn't sound as good. They should have made...

    My first Mesa Amp

I believe that is also what is says in the Mark V manual. So basically you will just go through tubes faster, maybe? Preamp tubes can last a long time but with extreme gain might need replacing more often.

    My first Mesa Amp

I don't think max gain can damage an amp. Maybe you can blow a speaker, but there is no reason to add enough gain to an amp so that you can only run it at 1 o'clock. It might sound muddy and super saturated but I don't think it should break anything.

    Mark VII in country music

The Mark 5 can sound like a Blackface Fender on the clean or fat setting. Maybe on low gain with the crunch channel but you can get some grit out of the fat channel too.

    Filmore 50 Combo Tone Issues

See if some Fillmore owners chime in here - I have heard good things about them.

    Filmore 50 Combo Tone Issues

Ah, ok I read that wrong then. That is strange, having bad luck with 2 amps that were bought new. I don't have experience with the Fillmore, just the Mark series. If the current model has an issue, I'd try to get some money back from the seller. Seems like you know how it is supposed to...

    Filmore 50 Combo Tone Issues

Why did you return the one that was working well? I don't know the Fillmore well, not sure how many versions there are, etc. I'd flip this one if you can and buy the one that had no issues before?

Mark VII - dang double gang - messed up FX levels

Can you keep the looper in front of the amp? Record a clean part, close the "loop" and then use the higher gain channels at a higher volume to compensate? Or will the looper part just become high gain when you switch channels? I use a ditto in front of a Fender amp with no loop and I can...

Picked up this Mark III amp this week - red stripe DG

Nice score. I need to educate myself on the Mark III and IV. I have no idea what the stripes mean, etc.

Sunshine of your Love. Eq help

Neck pickup, (not sure if he used a Strat on this track) - tone knob down, probably almost halfway or more. I'd also remove some highs from the EQ and push mids?

Mark VII owners - how’s it going?

Did they give you a reason why they wouldn't look at it or work on it? Too old?

New member, 1 year Mesa Boogie owner

I have a Tsakalis Room #40 as well. Great pedal. I actually think the crunch setting on the Mark V with the gain and other controls set a certain way gives you a similar tone. I don't suck out all the mids on that channel, actually run it slightly in the boost mode and then dial it back ont...

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

Thanks, I'm in the U.S. I think I'll probably just get the greys as they are the closest in the Mesa scale at least. This amp was definitely shipped with the blues though. I'll take another look around but I think the greys would probably be fine. Thanks again, just wanted to confirm. I'll...

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

Hey bandit, So, after doing some research (I am not an amp or Mesa expert by any means, but I know some things) I realized that the Mark V:25 and most (if not all) Mesas are fixed bias. So, I think the AC GRY EL-84s would work, but I guess they would run a little less hot? Bottom line, I just...

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

So I took the cage off of the back of my Mark V:25 and you can barely see the labeling on the EL-84 tubes anymore (after 3 years with moderate use, seems like the heat probably got to them, even a few months ago it was easier to read) and they actually say AC BLU. So now I don't know if the...

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

Thanks for sharing. Pretty sure that is the correct tube. It says "AC Gray" or something like that on the label, so those are most likely the same. I'll take a look today, definitely worth ordering a backup set.

    Mark III+ KDRG (Listing Feedback)

Yeah, I would be very careful selling that on Reverb. Make sure you protect yourself as the seller.

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

This amp is from 2020, right before the Gibson takeover. So, I probably won't need power tubes for a while. I only saw one set of EL-84s available, they seem like the same that are used in my Mark V, I'd have to remove the cage to see for sure.
