    The price of Mark series amps these days. thoughts?

    Oh I totally agree, much too costly to justify, but here I am trying anyway! The second I start to regret my purchases I wander downstairs, fire up the Marks, and all my questions are answered. For me, I am happy to pay a premium for a product that I enjoy. You only live once! I think!

    The price of Mark series amps these days. thoughts?

    I spent 1700 on my MKIII green stripe and 1500 on my mkIV B about 2 years ago. I also picked up a CLEAN IIb ( 60 watt w RP9C) within the last year for 2k. I sent them all back to Mesa for the + mod, cap replacements and a loop mod. Avg 500 per trip to Mesa. I was considering dumping one, but I...

    REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

    I messaged my sweetwater rep and put in a preorder as well. No money down, just a place in line. I asked him if he felt like there would be challenges getting one and he stated “no, we have quite a few on order, you won’t have any issues”. I’m sure mesa will be on backorder for months, but...

    Mark III+ vs III++

    I have a loop modded IIb as well….awesome amp! Wouldn’t dump either one, but if I had to choose the loop modded IIb is the winner when a/b’ing them.

    Mark III+ vs III++

    I have a green mkIII+ and have been very happy w it. GJgo has a good YouTube comp that ultimately led me to go w the + vs the ++. Personal pref I suppose. I play metal/hard rock and find the III+ to have just the right amount of distortion while maintaining the raw attack and clarity these...

    Mark iii re-cap and mods

    FWIW, I’ve been told 12 months out and it came back in 2ish. My IIB was quoted at 3 months and it was 1.5. Not to say it won’t be 3 months, but in my experience they have always beaten the quote. Another consideration, a mark III+ modded by Mike B vs a mark III+ modded by the owner are 2 very...

    2x12 recto cab w/ V30 and C90 retrofit

    Howdy, I’ve really enjoyed getting into these early marks (II and III). It’s the sound I’ve sought for literal decades. I’ve done the work and sent them home for upgrades and updates…have them lined up with proper tubes (at least to my ear)…and now we begin the speaker portion of the journey. I...

    Recent loop modded mark IIb questions

    Maybe what my ears perceive as hot is actually the opposite then? I don’t know, but I just don’t like the 448’s in the II or III at all. I watched several of your videos and we have similar taste in music… What tubes are you running in your older marks? Thanks for the comparison videos by the...

    Recent loop modded mark IIb questions

    I appreciate the analysis guys! The thing that was getting me was the recommended setting on that post. I agree w GJgo that 5 is prob more realistic. I have this set and have started the tweaking process. Thank you for the in depth explanation crustyB, and agree that it’s the setup logic is...

    Recent loop modded mark IIb questions

    After a few weeks of tinkering I think I have it figured out. For whatever reason the amp prefers to have the post level set lower than what is recommended. It also seems to behave a little differently when the loop is used. Im still verifying of this is true, but so far maybe? As far as...

    Recent loop modded mark IIb questions

    Howdy, I just got my 1983 SRG IIb (RP9C) home from Petaluma. Full work over and loop mod. There are multiple explanations of what the loop mod is technically, but I’m looking for those who are familiar with the “tweaking” experience and how this new knob interacts. I’m very familiar with the...

    Mark IV - Full Service Tune-Up

    Morning! Regarding the IIb, sounds like you are sending in your own caps? Mike has mine at the moment. I emailed him asking if he would like me to send in option caps. In your opinion, the stock Mesa currently uses isn’t great, or just personal pref? Regarding the IV, they did a great job on my...

    The older the better

    Yeah IIb is as far back as I go and thanks for the info on MB. I’ve had him work my IVb and my III+ green. Very pleased with both. I may add a different stripe III and do the ++ mod…who knows! I see that guy in the video is running an attenuator. Ever try one on your marks?

    The older the better

    Great example of a guy that knows how to tweak a Mark! Sounds fantastic. That 240 slider way up there is interesting. I’ll have to fiddle when my IIb comes back…between 1 and 12 months I’m told ha! He must be getting busy or deciding to take more time to himself. Either way, looking forward to...

    Mark VII owners - how’s it going?

    Bandit, totally agree. I was messing with different 6l6’s for a while. 415’s all the way up to 448’s. I couldn’t quite get it dialed in with any of them, so I went back to the str450’s. It’s a better sound to my ears with these el34’s. I think this is where it will stay.

    The older the better

    Welp, just got a mark IIb. No loop mod. Needs a little help: (sliders are half functioning…a few push pulls are debatable) I’m going to send in to the man (MB) because it’s what anyone should do to protect their investment while he still graciously provides his services. A comment before it...

    Mark VII owners - how’s it going?

    Morn! I just purchased a used VII...still on the fence. When I bought it had EL34's in it. I put some 420's in it and like those so far. One thing I noticed is when running a loop pedal (pigtronix) thought the loop, the volume is inconsistent when switching between channels (lets say I record a...

    Mark VII Headphone output not working

    Hi all, I just picked up a used Mark VII (000593). I'm a III, IV and V owner so still getting used to the newer features. I plugged in my headphones yesterday and got nothing. I'm assuming its just a plug in and adjust the level for sound?? Is there a switch I'm missing? I reached out to Mesa...
