    The JP honeymoon re-visited...

My III+ was originally a Green stripe. It was a good amp in original form, but was a little stiff and hash for my taste. So it was sent to Mesa for the “+” mod, which basically changes out some of the caps and resistors (I think) giving it a smoother gain & top end. I also had a triode switch...

    The JP honeymoon re-visited...

Hey everybody! I'm back with a new JP2C. It's been 2 years since I parted with the first one. I decided to get another one a couple weeks ago and give it another try. This time around, it's a MUCH better experience. Not sure what happened with my first amp, maybe I had a bad head (the amp, not...

Recto Reborn - Vintage mode - Channel 2

I just fired up the dual recto (reborn) tonight... ****, I need to start playing this amp more.

    Mark V 45 watts or 90 watts

I sometimes use 45 watts at smaller gigs, but otherwise 90 watts for all other gigs. 90 watts just gives a fuller overall tone and more clean headroom. Outdoors the guitar tone will disappear quickly on 45 watts, IMO.

Mark V in action with my band

Sounds really good man. What mode you using?

    Evolution of settings

Like some of you guys, I started out with IIc+ mode (triode) & GEQ for several years. I remember some of my best gigs/tone was with that. Recently, (actually since I decided not to keep the JP2C) I started playing around with IV mode & pentode, and have discovered a whole new love for channel 3...

    JP2C Master Volume

Matt, I had the same issue with the JP. I had to set my master volume around noon to be heard in a band mix.

    Boogie Mark V brown sound

Yeah...that does sound great! Nice playing too BTW. I'll have to try those settings too.

    Mark V:25 Max Volume

HA HA, that's awesome! Were you using your 2x12 or something different? That little amp is definitely a beast! With the volume at 11-11:30...it keeps up just fine with the band at gigs.

    Mark V:25 Max Volume

How did the tone sound at that volume? The loudest I've ever had my volume set was about 11:30 for small gigs. That was on C+ mode...Extreme mode would of been WAY louder.

That small cap in IIC+ mode

I've had my Mk V for about 7-8 yrs and used C+ mode pretty much the entire time. BUT recently, I've been experimenting with IV mode & triode....I really like how that sounds.

    Mark V recording

That actually doesn't sound bad at all. I can get some nice clean tones with the Cabclone. but, the lead channel is more tricky. Here's my sample with the clean channel on the MkV 25... https://youtu.be/Zxpmg5_IJUc

The Mark V is a Masterpiece

Sounds pretty good. Did you use Crunch and IV mode?

Back to the big daddy Mark V

Daniel: I'm glad this is working for you. And as I mentioned before... I'm surprised you got another MkV. That crunch clip you posted was very cool. Re: Having the cabinet coupled with the floor, the Mesa manual(s) even suggest doing that. I ALWAYS play with my cabs directly on the floor, with...
