What were the amps you've owned leading to what you have now

Started with a Hughes & Kettner Attax100 transistor and after a year or so, I started with tubes. After some testing I found that Marshall was my sound, so i bought a 'versatile' TSL602. Replaced tubes (all new and V1 became a 12AT7 instead of the stock 12AX7) and speakers and after some months...

Hotplates & Your Mesa Boogie Amp

I had one for my 60 watt marshall TSL. Since any Marshalls sounds best at 11, a hotplate is a great option to get great sounds at acceptable volumes (indeed, not at low volumes). I now have a dual set-up, Blue angel for cleans (at 6V6) and a CMW/Marshall JCM888 with a ppimv. This does the...

gas prices going to drive economy like the 1970's

    Working Blue Angels?

Another one over here. Just 6 months with me and it's wonderful clean and nearly as good with a Fullltone OCD. I got other stuff for that sort of sounds

    how loud live?

I've seen full stacks in small bars, mic'ed through a PA  If you, in that situation still think it's the guy behind the table that isn't capable of doing his job, then you shouldn't read any further.... I try to work with the soundman to get the job done. For me that is a Blue angel...

    Attenuator help

I owned a THD hotplate for a 60 watt Marshall and it helps to get the saturated tube sounds at acceptable band volumes, but it doesn't get you the perfect tone at a volume comparable to your hi-fi set. If you attenuate over 8 dB, it does change your tone. I now play a Mesa Blue angel for cleans...

Blue Angel owners, what pedals do you use???

I use my BA mainly for clean sounds in 6V6 mode (bright) and modulate with an Ibanez FL-9, a EHX small stone and a Line-6 echo park. For smooth leads I use an OCD and a rangmaster clone and occsionally a modded crybaby, but screaming and howling is done by a JCM888  (A superb modded...

What made you decide to buy a mesa boogie?

For me it wasn't any particular band or guitar player that got me going. I tried a few brands when I went out for my first tube amp and Marshall it was. I bought a used TSL602 (hey, 3 channels must be versatile  ) and changed the V1 from 12AX7 to 12AT7, speakers became classic lead 80...

    Blue Angel and pedals

Ok, I bought an OCD "just to try" and my TS9 is up for sale. This is a way better option than a TS-9, it is more smooth and singing. My JCM is being modded by CMW amps so I can crank it at lower volumes and the JCM and BA will be my future dual setup (well, for the coming weeks at...

    Blue Angel and pedals

A Blue angel sounds very sweet when cranked a little, especially in 6V6 mode (I use a Godin LG with Tetrads) I also have got a TS-9 with brown mod and for me this combination doesn't sound as good my JCM800 which I use as a fully crancked amp. (One trick pony, but a very good trick) I use my...
