My Mesa Boogie Mark III fan connector is broken. Help?

I don't think the Mark III fan outlet is polarized, in which case the fat prong won't fit. I could be wrong...

My Mesa Boogie Mark III fan connector is broken. Help?

Those plugs are spliced on at Mesa. Take that cable to a hardware store. Look for someone wearing a vest, probably a red vest. Show them the cable. Make it clear you need a plug that is narrow like the broken plug so it will fit between the cabinet and the transformer. If all else fails, call...

    Extension Cab for MKIV combo

OK, couple things. First, you have one 16 ohm speaker and one 8 ohm speaker. On a Mark IV, you're going to want to hook each speaker up to each of the two "4 ohm" speaker out jacks. These are designed to hook up two 8 ohm speakers (or two 8 ohm cabs). Normally, you would un-plug the internal...

Warm up time for a Mark amp?

Mesa says 30 second warmup, but what would they know, they only designed the durn things. As for hanging upside down, etc., the first Boogies were modded Princetons, which, surprise!!! have hanging tubes. It wasn't broke, and they didn't fix it. Once they got into the "real" amp head business...

    Mark III

Power is the same, 75 watts (85 for greenies). Tone is the difference between 6L6's and EL-34's. Generally speaking, 6L6 is the Fender sound. EL-34 is the Marshall sound. Mark III Simul-Class is the Boogie sound.

    Mark III

All the inner sockets are pentode (60 watt, 60/100, Simul-Class). The inner sockets always yield 60 watts. No, you can't remove the tubes from the outer sockets, run in Simul-Class, and get 60 watts. The choices are 15 or 75 watts (25 or 85 in a Green Stripe). You CAN get away with running in...

    Mark III

Yes, the switch on a 60/100 model will say "60/100". Most, if not all wide heads will have this switch on the front panel. To add to the confusion, these say "Full/Half Power". They are still either 75/15 (Simul-Class) or 60/100. The wide, or "long" head, is identified by eight knobs on the...

8 Ohm cab in the 4 Ohms out is OK? studio 22

You should have *two* four Ohm speaker outs. Run each 8 Ohm speaker from those two jacks. Take the internal speaker out of the 8 Ohm jack, and plug it into one of the 4 Ohm speaker outs. Plug the extension cab into the other 4 Ohm speaker out. I know it sounds like you are now running *two*...

Fan replacement Mark II. Ampere? wattage?

I'm not sure exactly which amp the fan in my photo is from originally, as I purchased it separately as a spare. My Mark III fans have the same specs. Be aware that any parts than can be unscrewed, unattached, modified, changed, etc., probably have been, especially on older amps. Don't assume...

Sick of the trebly ice-pickyness on my Mark V. Suggestions?

Before throwing money at the problem, I should think the first question would be, "How far away are your ears from the speaker?"

Can I use a volume pedal in the FX loop?

You need the low impedance type of volume pedal. The high impedance models are for using between the guitar and the amp input. For example: Ernie Ball model 6181 is 25K (low impedance). Ernie Ball model 6180 is 250K (high impedance). Roland (Boss) makes similar pedals.

A volume pedal in the loop does the same thing as the Master volume.

    MKIII control noob control questions

The manual is your bestest friend. Not in the manual: Not sure, but the manual may not make it clear that the Graphic EQ comes after everything else. The Reverb, on the other hand, comes BEFORE the effects loop, unlike 98% of other amps. So, any effects in the loop will be POST reverb. So, if...

When did Mesa switch to their larger Logo on the Mark III?

Yup. It would not be prudent at this juncture to assume any logo or badge-plate is original to the amp you're looking at. At least in my experience, when you get some cabs to go along with a combo or head, it would be very common to replace the various logos/badges with those that match. Done it...

    Mark III Simul, Buzzing

Not wrong caps, but old caps. Caps also go bad and dry out when they are NOT used. An amp that has sat in the closet unused for 20 years is almost certainly going to need more cap work than an amp used every weekend.

    mixing speakers in a cab

Assuming both speakers are the same impedance, and close to the same power handling, there shouldn't be a problem. If one speaker has a sensitivity of about 3 dB more than the other, that one will perceived as louder. That can be a plus in a vertical cab. Put the louder speaker in the bottom, so...

    Mk III to Mike B.

They can't just add on EQ and reverb. That would be major surgery. It would be cheaper to find an amp already equipped that way. Pedals in the loop'll do ya. A black stripe is the earliest iteration. Purple was next. Then red, then blue, then green. What's a "Blue Dot"?
