MK IV clean channel overdrives and rthm II peaks... help!

Hi, If you got spare preamptubes at hand, try and replace them. One by one. (so replace one beginning at V1 and try your amp, if it doesn't get better, swap V2, try, V3, etc. )

Mark IVA Export gutshots anyone? + cap job questions

Hi All, I want to convert my Mark IVA (117V-domestic version) to a 240V version. People over here allready told me where to get an Export tranny. (Thanks Aart!). I have some technical experience concerning tube amps. (build my own tube amp last year) But just to make sure I would like to have...

My Mark III Died . . Any ideas?

Could be powertubes. (even when they are just new) Did you put your amp ever since? If so how did the powertubes look? (red plates, lightning inside one of the tubes?)

Waiting for my Mark IV sucks

Congrats! If that 15watt amp is tube and the new cab has a good (efficient) speaker, it will be LOUD! Really, I build myself a 30/15watt (switchable) amp because I wanted an amp with good tone but without the volume of my mkIV. Silly me, It's almost equally loud. (I'm not joking) Watt doesn't...

    studio 22 reverb

In this order: 1. is there A reverb pan installed? (and connected?) (I'm not kidding) 2. Maybe the tube for the reverb gone bad? (I think it is the 5th preamp tube, I'm not sure though)

Mark IV Recording out vs mic - Opinions please

Get another tech  No seriously, A mic in front of an amp is ALWAYS better than a direct out. (IMHO). The speaker(s) that you use are a big part of the sound. Don't let anyone take that away. Does your tech said why he wants you to use your recording out? Anyway, I did try using the...

Thanks for the info. That means saving for a new transformer. (and for some new filter caps, I'm beginning to hear ghost notes, or is it just my ears? ) thank you all for helping!

    Mk III problem

Hi shep, If your mkIII stll has the original filtercaps, change 'm. (or let an amptech do it) Then look further if you still have problems. Even if the filtercaps are not the problem, they will give you problems in the future. I have a '90 MK IV and begin to hear gostnotes on my lead channel...

Mesa MK IV Export power trafo

Hi Boogiebabies, Thanks for the info. I wrote 110V because that's what I measure on the output of the stepdown trafo. Maybe it should be 117V? I don't know. The part number on my PT is 561110. That seems strange doesn't it? Do you, or somebody else have info on this? How...

    Choosing a New Wah!

Hi, I'm using a VOX wah. But I just had to toy with the electronics. Now it sounds GREAT  You could buy one secondhand en mod it. A inexpensive way to a "boutique-esque" effect. Wah mods can be found on the internet. It's not that difficult if you can solder. greetz
