Can't help you on the date of the amp, but I can say that it's almost certainly a B-version. Mine is an early B-version, and the serial number on mine is 006547.

Thanks for the reply. It's not signal clipping though - the signal is going in very soft, like -24db. I played a clearer clip to my friend and he noticed the problem there. Anyway, I just switched the amp to full power, and the problem seems to be gone. If the problem persists, I'll post a clip...

Ok, nevermind, I removed the head from the chassis, and the tube is already in there, it's just not visible from the back of the head.

I just received my MkIV. There is no preamp tube in the V1 shielded socket (on the right in the pic). I'm guessing that is a problem... The other 4 preamp tubes are there, and power tubes as well (which are missing from this pic, because I removed them). The seller did include two extra power...

I'm pretty sure that it will end up a lot cheaper, yes. Let's say I buy a MkIV with a winning bid of $1300. Add a maximum of $250 for shipping on top of that. That would come down to about 1100 euros. Now on top of that a maximum of 27% taxes and customs. That would be a bit under 1400 euros...

Are all MkIV:s with a full "Mesa/Boogie" logo on the grill version A, and ones that have just "Boogie" version B? This is kind of what I've gathered. This would be a handy way of instantly distinguishing between version A from version B.

Yeah, we use Euros in Finland. I figured the same as you, it's a great time to buy something from the US. Even when adding the shipping costs and the taxes + customs, it can still be a LOT cheaper to have a head shipped from the US. Thanks everyone for the replies.
