Mark III, DC-3, DC-5 which one for 80's metal/classic rock

As owner of both, I disagree so far. I found the MKIII to have a spongy low end not to suitable to heavy rock. It did the blues thing well and I used it for a lot of jazz/fusion things but I just didn't like the low end. I find the DC5 to be a lot tighter in the lows. It can still sound...

    Just curious...

I was under the impression that a IIB can't be converted to a IIC. Can they? What are the benefits? what would the cost of the mod be?

    Mark III with vintage G12M65s?

I just had a pair of Geezer Sound 2 x 12 cabs delivered to try out for an upcoming show. One has 2 Celestian G65's the other has Vintage 30's. I'm running a Fuchs ODS and a Marshall 2550. The G65's are very warm. Nice Hi's but not shrill. the Vintage 30's sound great with the Marshall...if...

Where to get a Mesa long head flight/road case?

    ''Suhr riot and Dc 5''

Congrats. I like my DC5 for the 15 years I used it on the road. Never a problem. Never really cared for pedals. I always leaned toward the amps OD. Sometimes a a slight modded TS 808. Good luck.

    DC5 Mod

I think I'll leave it. I've had the amp since 1993 and honestly it's never posed a problem or been an issue. The two channel volumes are pretty even...the lead channel has to be a little louder...cleans for one cut more and two, lead channel is for...well...lead. So. If it aint' broke don't...

    DC5 Mod

Just saw a post on the gear page about a mod for the DC5 Output Master Control. According to the post there is a resistor on the Output pot. Apparently removing this smooths out the taper giving it a more useful and uniform curve. Has anybody done it? Heard of it?

    MKiiB vs MKIIC

I love the MKIIB. I have a non verb/EQ Model but love it. The effects loop poses no problem at all. I was just wondering what the differences between the IIB and the IIC were...especially tonally. I'm on the verge of replacing/experimneting with tubes. I bought this amp in '81. Sold it in...

    MKiiB vs MKIIC

I have a '81 MKII B. Fantastic sounding amp. What is the difference between the MKIIB and the MKIIC? Is it THAT much better than a MKIIB and if so is it possible to mod the B to a C?

Replace a MK III or Try a DC-5?

Been using a Fuchs ODS the last couple of years. every so often I'll bring out my MKIIB. Amazing amp that is very touch sensitive and dynamic. On Saturday I fired up my DC5 again after not playing it for a couple of years. Wow. Amazing amp that once it's dialed in is simply fantastic...

MARK IV "farty" bass ..need help

try switching brands...even within brands tubes sound drastically different.

MARK IV "farty" bass ..need help

Is this just starting to happen. Could be a pre amp tube. Try swapping tubes. Different manufacturers sound different. I know the Tung Sol RI's in my Fuchs sounded really "farty". The Mullard or JJ gold pin really tightened the low end.

    DC-3/5 and the Santana/Carlton/Ford tone??

I have both a DC5 and a MKIIB. Although the MkII is what Carlton used in the late 70's early 80's the DC 5 can get very close. The lead channel on the DC 5 is a bit darker. I like the clean channel on the DC5 with the gain dimed and the boost pulled. It gets very responsive and...

Replace a MK III or Try a DC-5?

I used a DC5 from 1992-3 until 2006. never failed on me...still sounds amazing. I'm actually selling it if you're interested. it's a DC5 1 x 12 combo. roadcase, new tubes. all options. sounds fanrastic

    MkIIB Power tubes

I just picked up my old MKIIB off of the guy i sold it to back in the 80's. Ihave a '81 MKIIB non graphic/non reverb 60 watt combo. When I bought it (again) it had Groove Tubes in it. I never cared for Groove Tubes so I swapped them out with a set of JJ's that I had laying around. DRASTIC...

The new batch could look like the last batch

I can't open the pics at work but I'd really like it in red tolex to match my Fuchs ODS head and my Fuchs 2x12.
