I just can't seem to get a O.D tone out the stock Mesa C-90 that I like. I unplug the speaker and plug into my EV loaded Thiele and Woah!!! super tone. I been thinking about building/finding a headshell for the amp and ditch the combo format. I just don't care for the mid honk I can't dial out...

I've had a couple of these and they have been crazy loud. Got another one today and its very quiet...too quiet. I went through and pulled each pre-amp tube and replaced with a know tube...nothing. Swapped power amp tubes with some known good tube...nothing. It got warm after doing this stuff...

Let's throw a Mini Rectifier in the mix. Current amps are a Mesa Mini, H&K TM36, PV C30. Trying to get the right mix, some stuff would have to go. Not looking to build a collection.

Actually I have had a 5:50 plus... What I did get was a test drive to shake it out.. He was worried about neighbors and it getting to loud... He kind of had the "please just buy it and leave" attitude.

Mine is in Excellent to mint condition looking for near the same condition. I don't need the width for what I'm using it width. A Mk5 or Express 5:50 sits perfect on this cab.

I just bought a 5:50 Plus 1x12 combo.. I like it well enough but would like to just use a head with my 1x12 widebody ported cab. I probably should have just gotten the head version in the first place. Anyone know approx. how much Mesa charges for a headshell for the Express series?
