A low powered Marshall for Boogie people?

That's not all it does, obviously. Just like a Mark IV isn't just for playing Metallica. I've even seen Larry Carlton playing a pair of Mark IVs.

    Mk II C+ questions

Mesa doesn't have any more IIC+ faceplates in stock. They have to install a Mark III faceplate instead. That and the "upgrade" costs $450 to start.

    fair price for IIc+

Something tells me your interest was only fleeting.

    Mark IV buying advice

Caps caps caps. Everyone says replace caps. BS I say! If there's no sign of actual leakage of material, do the following: Leave the amp in standby for several hours, twist all the pots vigorously while in standby. Most, if not all, crackles and static should be gone when you turn the amp on...

    Mark IV having issues

Very typical of a tube amp that doesn't get turned on on a regular basis. Try turning the amp ON, but leave it in STANDBY for an hour or 2. You might vigorously twist all the knobs back and forth while the amp is in standby. I'll bet you'll experience a lot less problems.

    SDO Preamp from Quinn Amps

Dumble style preamp, 3 12AX7s. $600 or best offer: Would prefer a local, northern California sale.

    Gibson SG Standard questions!?

I highly recommend Manlius Pickups. For the SG, I'd probably go with either the Landmark or the Fat Dianne. I installed the HR59s in my doublecut Les Paul. It was a fantastic transformation, getting rid of the Gibson 490/498 pair. The HR59s sound much more "woody", like late 1960s Gibson...

    King Snake Investment

You'd be far better served investing in the stock market. Especially if you saw the Guitar Center PRS fire sale 2 weeks ago. I feel sorry for anyone trying to sell a used PRS right now.

    DC-3 Preamp Issues

Interesting, any update? Not one of those ubiquitous uA741 op-amp chips?

Quad Guitar Preamp: Can I get Metallica/Lamb of God Sounds?

I highly suspect the reason might be, you've become too good of a guitar player for music like that.

FS: Mark IIC+ and Mark IV

1985 Mark IIC+ head, 60 watts, with reverb, blonde tolex, no eq-$1200 or best offer 1989 Mark IV short head, 85 watts, simul-class, EQ, black tolex, reverb -$1100 OBO Not interested in trades, thanks. Would highly prefer to sell to someone locally, that being northern CA.

    fair price for IIc+

I'd sell ya mine for half that. Seriously! Only difference, mine is a 60 watt head with reverb, no eq.

Just bought a Mark II C+

I'm thinking this is a Mark IIC, not a Mark IIC+. My Mark IIC+ says 11/84, its serial number starts with "134".
  14. R

    fair price for IIc+

I have a 60 watt head with reverb, no EQ. I'd sell it for $1500.

A low powered Marshall for Boogie people?

For years I hated Marshalls. I never thought they ever did get the master volume thing down. I always thought they sounded overly piercing, and cliched. The limited edition SL5 from 2013 is a great amp for Boogie folks. It does a nice American high gain sound, while retaining a distinctly...

    Why Dumble?

Supposedly, Bludotone makes the closest thing to a real Dumble Overdrive. Someone has one on The Gear Page for $3500 presently. That being said, many come very close, Ceriatone, Fuchs, Redplate, Glaswerks, Sebago Sound etc. Redplate just might be a better amp than Dumbles ever were, no...

Considering selling my DC-3 combo - what is a fair price?

$500 to $600 in good shape. Sure you want to part with it? Obviously it is much lighter than the Mark V. You can make it even lighter with the neo-magnet speaker of your choice, perhaps shave 5 pounds or so. DC3s have a great soulful tone. I think they still look great too.

Recording with my MKIIC+ recommend load res?

They are a bit expensive, can be had new for $900. Mine should be here in mid-May. This is what you want for recording an amp (not preamp), silently.
