Mark VII - dang double gang - messed up FX levels

Hi, I noticed this behavior in the VII the other day: I created a looper pedal clean riff in CH1 FAT mode, then let it run with the FX LOOP ON. I switched to CH2 CRUNCH and the volume of the FX LOOP dropped significantly. Playing live guitar CH1 and CH2 were the same volumes. Tested further...

    Randal Smith Interview 2024

Some interesting stories and reminiscing. Hadn’t seen it posted here yet.

    Footswitch control questions

Hi, I’ve discovered that when the amp toggle switches are ON for REVERB, FX and SOLO that the footswitch can still turn these functions off and on. In other words, the toggle switches don’t really keep the function ON at all times. Accidentally hitting a footswitch button will turn things off...

Mark VII and onboard IR+ only 8 slots

Just for awareness if you are considering the VII, be aware that all three channels share the same 8 IR slots. As comparison, the Badlander is a two channel amp and each channel has it’s own 8 independent slots (so 16 slots total). I was assuming that the VII would also have 8 per channel, so...

    Mark VII Channel volume differences

Well, I bit the bullet and picked up a Mark VII yesterday! After it a quick play through a couple things of note, which seem way different than other Marks I’ve used (use): 1) the PRESENCE knob does way more than on the V90 etc. It brings in mids and drive as well as the upper frequencies. It...

Mark VII owners - how’s it going?

So, after a few weeks with the VII how are things? Is the amp still ‘all that’? Strengths? Weaknesses? Just curious to hear some updated opinions now that the dust has settled a bit! Thanks

What Mark is this?? Jeff Watson 1986

Hi there, Which flavor of Boogie is Jeff using in this video? I figured one of y'all would know. It is at minute mark 3:45 when they have some close ups. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2EmPPyFt6A Thanks!

    CabClone IR+ question

Hi, does anyone know when the red warning light should light up? I thought it was when the speaker/load switch is set to SPRK and no speaker is actually connected to the back of the IR+? When I do this, the red warning light does not come on. Is my IR+ defective? Thanks!

    Reverb not working

Hi, The reverb on my Mark V has stopped working. On the footswitch, the green light goes on and off, but this does not change the sound. I've checked the connections on the circuit board and also the reverb tank and everything is tight. I've also rolled the tubes but it did not make a...

Has anyone had a chance to try this little guy out? Haven't heard much noise about it here.

Cab clone strangeness - low freq. pulsating feedback

Hi, Last gig was at a club and a strange thing happened for a second time. I was using the cab clone on the Mark V for the drummer's monitor only (small place). On about the 2nd or 3rd song there was this feedback sound coming out of the PA. It seemed to be happening when I played (mics were...

    Petrucci Interview

Hi, I came across this short article, where Petrucci says: "one of my proudest moments was Boogie doing a signature amp with me because I've been a Boogie fan forever, and I worship the Mark C+ that Metallica did [1986's] 'Master of Puppets' with. My amp is a bonafide reissue of that, but...

    Output vs. Master (nomenclature question)

I've noticed in Logic Pro X that the Output faders come before the Master faders in the signal chain. On the Mesa amps, each channel has a Master before the Output at the end of the signal chain. Is there a reason for these two different orders? Or, is it is just arbitrary in the "music biz"...

Recording questions - two channels, one take

Hi, I've been doing some recording with the Mark V and CabClone and also with an SM57 mic. Both CC and mic go to a little 2-channel pre-amp thingy, then that goes to a cheap USB interface into the Mac, Logic X. The set-up is very simple, just capturing two channels at the same time. I thought...

Hum with pedals in EFX loop - strange problem

Hi, I’ve got a strange problem. I have three pedals in the EFX loop on a Rectoverb 25. All are TC Electronic: Vicious Vibe, Corona Chorus and Flashback X4 (in that order). The problem is a line level type of noise/hum that is present regardness of amp volume/wattage. Wven with the volume at...

    Poll: How Old Are You?

Hi, Some good folks mentioned their age in a couple posts and it got me curious... how old are we here? As far as I know the poll is 100% anonymous, so no worries there. Suspicion is that a good portion of folks here are over 40 (like me) because 1] electric guitar based music (like rock and...

Power Soak vs. other setting options

Hi, Maybe a dumb question about the MULTI-SOAK on the TC100. If I understand this correctly, the excess power (100W less the power soak setting) would be “soaked up” and only the remaining power would go to the speaker. For example, at a SOAK setting of 20W, there would be 20W going to the...

EFX Loop and Guitar cable length questions

Hi, I run minimum length cables in the Mark V EFX loop (3’ each direction) and on the front end I usually have a 12-20’ going from guitar to wah, then a 6’ or 12’ going from wah to amp (depends on the stage size etc.) One thing I’ve run into is that on bigger stages and areas I cannot keep the...

    Squealing/howling - how to prevent

Hi, Tonight at practice the TC-50 was up to bat. All was well in channel 2, gain at noon, tight, crunch heaven. Channel 3 however, was having issues. My guitars (a PRS with Seymour duncan Mark Holcomb pick-ups, a JP IX with the Liquifier/Crunchlab set up) would both howl around when not being...

Effects Loop Questions - Sound Levels

Hi, Some background: Mark V owner for 5.5 years, Flashback X4 owner for 5 yrs. The two have been used together a lot, just plugged and played and enjoyed. Effects return knob at 12 o'clock, no worries. Recently, I wanted to get the exact delay sound of Welcome to the Jungle so I dove into the...
