The next Mark - what would we need?

The only thing I want in addition to what the Mark V currently has is an isolated 1/4" jack for a mute switch, right beside the Tuner Out jack. I use the Tuner Out and just mute the amp when I want to tune, but as I'm trying to get away from having the footswitch on stage, I can no longer get...

    General reliability of Mark V

IME ultra reliable. Built like brick shithouses. Been doing shows regularly with mine for three years without a single issue. Any problems can usually be chalked up to operator error.

    Mark V 45 watts or 90 watts

    45 watts, all the time.

    Possible Mark VI Directions

Wow, progressive linkage would instantly sell on a Mark VI. One of the reasons why I'm thinking about an RKII. Regarding push/pull, I'd like to see a push/pull pot on Ch.2 for the mid voicing. I use Mark I mode a lot with my neck humbucker, and being able to shift the mids just a touch would...

Mark V Master Volume & Solo Levels

My Output Volume usually fluctuate between 8:30 and 12:30. Channel 1 gain is set to 1:30, master volume is maxed, Channel 2 gain is about 2:00 and master volume at about 3:00. I don't know if this is the best way to run the MkV, but it sounds great to me and is plenty loud through a 2x12. If...

OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD

I've been messing around with different tones in the rehearsal room, and came up with some nice tones. Channel 1: Fat, EQ On, Bold, 90W Gain 2:30 Master 11:00 Presence 12:30 Treble 12:00 Mid 10:00 Bass 9:30 Channel 2: Mark I, EQ On, Mark I Thick, 90W Gain 3:00 Master 1:00 Presence 3:30 Treble...

OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD

I've been trying to mimic Josh Homme's more recent tone, that kind of mid-heavy sound with very little in the ways of low and highs. The only problem I've having is it always sounds like there's too much gain, but ah well. It's getting close, this is just a rough starting point that I'm using...

Which pedals work well with the V? Which don't?

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I've been experimenting with some pedals and have had great success with a few. All out front: Fulltone Full Drive 2 Mosfet EHX Memory Boy Voodoo Labs Micro Vibe (really lush, great on Channel 1) The Phase 90 is the king though, as mentioned previously...

A quick review after about 3 days with the Mark V.

I got mine around last November or December. I still haven't been able to discover even a fraction of the tones yet, just because the couple tones I have dialed in just sound too good. The band's on hiatus right now though, so this is a perfect time to start experimenting. I love my MKV.

Turned my NEW Mark V on without having a speaker load connec

Yeah, you're fine dude. I've done it once or twice myself, but I can't remember if I had it out of stand-by at that point or not. Either way, Mesa makes some tough-as-nails equipment.

Found a Righteous MOP tone today

I love the Mk 1 voicing, probably my go-to channel for most of our stuff. I play in a stoner rock band and Mk 1 just oozes that thick, low-mid heavy tone. Throw it on the neck pup and that thick, fuzzy Kyuss sound roars forth. Hearing that dudes can go from Metallica to Kyuss with this amp is...

    Random Mark V chat...

I've been loving the different wattage levels on the MKV. Like others have said regarding channel 1, to get that real clean tone I need to have it on 90w. I'm going to keep fussing about with 45w (diode) on channel 1 and see what happens, but I'm constantly finding even with the gain at 9:00...

OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD
