Mark V V1 Tube Keeps Blowing

I just put a new 12X7 tube in V1 and it does not light up at all. Does not get warm. No sound. All other tubes are red and hot. Would a multi-meter tell me anything?

    What would cause that?

Mark V V1 Tube Keeps Blowing

My V1 preamp tube keeps blowing. No sound at all from the amp. Have replaced it 3x times now. Does that mean that there is a problem elsewhere in the amp head? Thank

Mesa 12AX7 preamp tube vs. Generic tibe

Ok thanks - do you know what would be a good replacement for a Mesa branded 12AX7? I know Mesa does not actually make their tubes but I cannot find any Mesa branded ones at the moment due to the tube shortage. Thanks again.

Mesa 12AX7 preamp tube vs. Generic tibe

How picky is a Mark V with its preamp tubes? Do I need a Mesa Mesa branded 12AX7 for the V1 slot or can I use any type of 12AX7? Thanks

Mark V with Rivera Rock Crusher and Wall of Sound

I want to connect my Mark V into my DAW and record. I am looking to take my signal from my Mark V preamp to a Rivera Rock Crusher attenuator (original version not the “Recording” version) and going into a Steinberg UR28M interface and then into my DAW. Within the DAW I want to use Two Torpedos...

EL34 Tubes in Mark V (Groove Tubes GT-E34LS)

Took the Groove Tubes back to my guitar store and they noted that I should really be using Mesa Boogie EL34s. I swapped them out and everything sounds great now. I would not have expected this - but problem solved! Thanks

TC Electronics G-Force and Mark V

I think where I am going with this question is the Mark V FX send is line level but the G-Force has a High Z inputs. Does this create an issue? And if so can it be fixed or should I be looking for another FX option in my Mark V loop that accommodates the Mark V line-level SEND? Thanks

TC Electronics G-Force and Mark V

I have a TC Electronics G-Force in the FX loop of my Mark V. It is a pretty noisy unit. Any tips on how to use this rack unit in the loop. I have read that these were really noisy units and I am trying to decide if I should simplify and maybe replace with another rack unit or simplify with...

EL34 Tubes in Mark V (Groove Tubes GT-E34LS)

Yes I am in Variac mode and the bias is set to EL34. When I was changing the tubes out I turned the head upside down so that I could push the tubes into the preamp (instead of having it right side up and pushing the tubes upwards). I then turned the head on while upside down. I head what...

EL34 Tubes in Mark V (Groove Tubes GT-E34LS)

I just purchased some Groove Tubes GT-E34LS to swap out my existing 6L6 tubes in my Mark V. I am questioning if these were the right tubes for the Mark V. I bought 2 matched pairs (inner and outer tubes). Upon turning on the amp I can hear a high end squeal on Channel 3 and low end...

External EQ Options in FX loop and Beginning of Signal Chain

I have a Mark V and I love it. I use the 5 band EQ and presets to shape the tone across all channels. I figured out early one that when practicing and playing alone (no band/not live), that I can further shape my sound by putting a parametric eq in my FX loop (post pre-amp but pre-power amp)...

Run Mark V/TC G-Force/4x12 Mesa Cabinet in Stereo Mode

Hi I have a Mesa Mark V which I run in mono to a Mesa 4x12 cabinet. I run a TC electronics G-Force in the Mark V effects loop. I was wondering if I can run my rig in stereo mode so that I can split the left and right side of the 4x12 cabinet and take advantage of the stereo effects in the...

    Rivera Rock Crusher

So if I have an FX loop in my Mark V does the FX Loop in the Fryette Power Station add any value? Thanks

    Rivera Rock Crusher

Primal/Elvis, thank-you for the response. I noticed the Fryette Power Station has an FX loop (Rock Crusher does not). What does this accomplish? Secondly the Fryetter appears to have 2x tubes in it. Does the Rock Crusher have tubes? Regards RK

    Rivera Rock Crusher

I am considering looking at a Rivera Rock Crusher (attenuator/load box) for my Mark V head. I am looking to maximize the tone at lower volumes on my Mark V head. I am playing in a house and I have volume constraints (not in an apartment). I can turn my Master on each channel to about the 8-9...

Mark I and Extreme Settings on Mark V head

I have a Mark V head. There are two settings on Channel 2 and 3 that I have never really been able to master. The Mark I setting on Channel 2 is lifeless. I cannot see how you would use it. The Extreme setting on Channel 3 is too bassy. Again I cannot see the merit in it. Would love to...

Multiple Heads One Cabinet and Splitting Cabinet

I have a Mark V and a Road King 4x12 cabinet. The back of the cabinet has one 4 ohm input which I connect via 1 x 4 ohm output from the Mark V. I have noticed that there are also 2x 8 ohm inputs on the back of the cabinet for use when "bi-amping". Questions: 1) Can I set this up so that I...

Joe Bonamassa Guitar Tone on Mesa Mark V

Hi all, I am trying to replicate a Joe Bonamassa guitar tone on my Mesa Boogie Mark V. I realize he uses Marshalls. I am assuming that I should be exploring tones with Channel 2 with or without a Tube Screamer. I have a Ibanez TS9 tube screamer (Bonamassa uses a TS808 and various others). I...
