    Differences between 500-series chassis

I scored a Lucid ADAT converter awhile back. I know Lucid quit the commercial audio years ago which is why this was likely so cheap, but Google searches typically compared them to RME and similar. I was planning on eventually incorporating 500-series into my rig based around a Focusrite 56...

It;s still up. Not terribly motivated to sell, just figured I might explore a different sound.

    MkIIC+

No EQ or reverb, just a cooling fan. http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/fear624/MesaBoogie1.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/fear624/MesaChassis1.jpg

    MkIIC+

I'm toying with trying something different. I've got a MKIIC+ Coll. Low hours on Mesa tubes throughout, I had it checked by local tech and had the pots cleaned. All caps etc were good. You know what these go for, I know what they go for. Might take a JCM, Blackstar, etc as part trade with cash...

    MXR backing plates

I was BSing with my fiend's dad while doing some work on her lawnmower. Her dad used to play for a few bands back in the day (Dolly Parton, Dr, Hook, etc) and of course, I had to curve the conversation at some point to music. He showed me his Mk IIc+ short head (originally a MkIIb, but he sent...

    Aqua Puss vs Carbon Copy

Both supposedly designed by Jorge Tripp. Which seems better. My brother loves his Carbon Copy, I haven't talked to anyone with an Aqua Puss, but they seem to sell well.

Need info on a Thomas organ wah

Late reply. I figured you figured this out by now, but Thomas Organ made the original Crybaby, Vox's US importer had them making the Vox wah with the same CB in it, then Thomas went out of buisiness and was bought out by Dunlop and Vox had to start making their own wahs. Minus revisions over the...

    Clutch-style flanger

Whenever I listen to flanger sound-bytes, it's playing Van Halen or Heart style stuff. I want more of Clutch's-"House that peterbilt" flanging. Heavy phsycdelic distortion flanging. The EH-flangers seem to go after a totally different sound. One band that was openning for COC a few months back...

    Colliseum limit control

Yeah, that's the kinda thing that waits until tax-time, maybe. I've checked out these guys getting theres back ith $600+ receipts plus shipping. It sounds really sweet now as-is. I just figured someone might have run into this before.

    Colliseum limit control

Since I switched out my tubes, the amp sounds great. But now the limit knob on the back only works in the zero-position. It was working the opposite before, no sound on zero, but sound in all other positions. I don't think it blew a transformer or anything because it still gets pretty loud (not...

    Finally re-tubed the Coll IIC+

I'm confused now. After putting in 6 fresh 6L6s and all the 12AX7s Mesa tubes, it sounds sweet. But I only get sound with the knob on the back in the zero position. It worked before the tube swap, the little I played it with just 4 6L6 Wing-Cs in it.

    Finally re-tubed the Coll IIC+

I think EH and JJ both make both tubes. I'm gonna dig around Nashville, I'm sure someone stocks them. Thanks for the input.

    Finally re-tubed the Coll IIC+

I just got done replacing all the 6L6 tubes and 12ax7s with new Mesa tubes. I just got a little confused when I took it apart. Instead of 5 12ax7s, I found 3 12ax7s, a 12AT7 (it got a 12AX7) and one 6FQ7 (huh?). I can't find a Mesa-version of the last one, so I'll let it ride a while longer. It...

    Colliseum Mk IIC+ question

I appreciate all input. The largest I can find of matched sets is sets of four. Mine takes six 6L6s, so I hve to go with three matched pairs, that's why I needed to know how to pair them, and appreciate that info. I've just gathered the STR440 isn't as good as past available models. Thanks...

    Stash of vintage tubes

I was more wondering if there were some sweet obsoleete brands and runs of the 6L6 to look out for. Kinda like how if you find a stash of STR 415s on Ebay, they want stupid money for them. Maybe some sweet forgotten tubes.

    Stash of vintage tubes

Some dude says he has a stash of vintage 6L6 RCA and Amperex tubes. I was gonna go check on them, but didn't know what to look for. Any particular models to look for. He says he's got tube testing equipment to check them with.

    Colliseum Mk IIC+ question

I'm still a newbie to Mesas and have been trying to learn all I can about my "new" amp. Assuming my amp came with 415s, what would be a good readily available substitute 6L6 that wouldn't loose the Mesa gainy tone? I keep hearing JJ's are what locals love, but most don't play Mesas or like...
