    cable management

My God, treat your cables like they're a bunch of Expresses! They can fail on you when you least expect it! Coil and velco them when not in use and avoid bending them sharply. Also avoid stepping on them. I make nice straight lines on stage so I don't step on them while I'm playing. Tony

Does a MkIV rackmount need a fan?

....not to mention the Mark IV chassis being upside down with the tubes on the bottom. Heat tends to travel up first which can only cause the chassis to heat up more unlike the Dual Rec with the tubes on top and dissipating heat out the top of the head. The fan forces a lot of that heat out of...

    1 x 12 cab recommendation

I had a nice 112 Recto cab with the V30 in it. Sounded great and light weight. Problem is the width as it was perfect for my Mark IV short combo. I'm assuming you'll put the amp on top. That being said, excellent cab!

pricing for a Mark IV combo shell?

Hey guys, I'm converting my Mark IV to a head and now have mint, empty combo with the EVM Vlack Shadow till in it. Mounting hardware, fan and reverb have been removed and used in the head. The combo has two grills with it. One black and one tan. I also have a Modern Case Company flight case for...

    To contour or not

I found when I had my 5:50 that I loved using the contour. Especially when playing alone. It just sounded huge even at lower volumes. When in a band situation I used less contour and increased the volume level. The mids seemed to cut through the mix better without overpowering the other...

    Mark IV head shell substitute?

Are there any head shells that will fit a Mark IV short chassis? I'm looking to convert my combo and the Mark IV short head shells aren't exactly jumping out of the water right now. What else should I be looking for?

I just won a Splawn Nitro and matching 4x12 on ebay.

pedalboard placement, mic stand onstage... BACK PAIN!

Everybody has covered the boom stand thing so I'll leave that one alone. I also sing when I play and I have also had two lower disc surgeries. Best thing for me is to move around on stage between verses/choruses, perhaps walk to the other side of the stage during solos. Use a wireless unit and...

minor pulsing sound on second channel???

No. Sound was still present in a different house with a different guitar. The guitar was plugged straight into the amp.

    Fender clean

Don't know if this will help but when I had my Express 5/50, I used the 1st channel in Crunch mode with the gain dialed back instead of using the Clean setting. Made a huge difference when playing with my co-guitarist who uses primarily vintage Fender Bassmans and Deluxe Reverb amps.

minor pulsing sound on second channel???

My Express 5/50 was on the Burn channel at a moderate to loud volumes for some recordings and now I'm getting a constant, minor "dududududududu" sound. It's only on the second channel and very faint. Could this be tube related? Thanks Tony

    Need help playing live...

    3. Volume pedal in the loop. This gives you some flexibility for staying out front in a band that doesn't know how to control their volume. For the love of God, leave your volume pedals at home! You think your sound guy has issues with you now!....LOL! +1 for aiming your speakers at your head...
