Lonestar Classic - too much bass on drive channel - SOLUTION

Another less invasive way to tame the low end would be to run a good eq in the loop. I recently picked up a VFE Rocket parametric EQ and it really excels in the loop as a subtle bass cut and kick to the mids.

    FS/FT Presonus Firestudio Project

Hardly used and in excellent shape, aside from one small scratch on top from when I took it out of my rack. It's like new otherwise and super clean -smoke and dust free- It's been sitting in the box for a year. -includes original box and firewire cable $235 shipped, paypal I...

WTB - UNLOADED Mesa horizontal 212 cabinet

Looking for an unloaded horizontal Mesa 212 cab -First choice would be a Road King 212 but also interested in Roadster, Recto or Stiletto.. Casters are a plus but not a must. Thanks!

    Just bought Electra Dyne

Congrats! For pedals, keep in mind that the Bogner Red will not stack well as a "boost". It is meant to be played through the clean channel set very clean. What it will do is add another channel that sounds and feels exactly like a Bogner Ecstasy. If you want something that's more an...

MK IV ch 3 Presence: pushed or pulled?

I like it pulled for low to mid level jamming or recording most of the time. It has a really bouncy and dynamic feel this way. For more raw, aggressive chug at louder volumes I push it in.

Bogner XTC red pedal and Electra Dyne. WIN.

The Bogner Red is by FAR the best dist/dirt pedal I've ever used. It completely blows away anything I've owned (BB+, OCD v.4, a million MXR, Boss, DOD, TS clones, boutique stuff, visual sound J&H, just to name a few) Thing about the Bog red is that it's made to be run into a CLEAN amp. It...

    Electra Dyne Officially Discontinued...

I had a feeling this news would be coming soon. Too bad, IMO it's the best Boogie in recent years.

Did Mesa Boogie make a mistake?

Umm, no. The Dyne is an amazing amp, period.

Racked my pedals - Mark V rig

The signal isn't passing through all of the effects, so yes, you get a very pure signal. If the switcher/looper has a good buffer and is a quality unit, then the result is close to a "straight in" sound. The pedals are in loops and are at the ready to be switched in or out. When they are out...

    Boomy Mark IV

Glad to hear the retube fixed it. I was going to say, something had to have been wrong! Marks are the least boomy and flubby sounding amps I can think of! Especially with a Stiletto/Traditional cab.

    Couple of Mark III videos

That sounds killer! Nice playing too 8) I think about picking up a Mark III sometime down the road. My IVB keeps me very happy but it would be nice to add a slightly more raw and aggressive sounding III to it for total destruction! On a side note-what model III would best compliment a...

Question on Mark IV tone controls

AFAIK most if not almost all amps have their tone controls pre-gain, with the exception of maybe a couple controls that effect the power amp. Nothing special there. The thing about the Marks is that the Graphic EQ is post gain, which is why it has such a dramatic effect on the amps overall...

FS Vintage Ibanez AD-230 rackmount analog delay/flanger

Up for sale is my '70s AD-230. It's the USA version (120v) and is in great shape cosmetically and functionally. Only a few scratches on the unit and everything works flawlessly! Anyone who's played one of these knows they are one of the greatest sounding delays ever made. Rich, thick...

What speakers do you guys like wtih your Mark IV?

Just put two Weber Legacy 65 watt speakers in my recto 212 and they sound golden with my Mark IV! They are *similar* to the scumback M75s (not saying they're identical, just similar;) and they really compliment the Mark's mid focus. I tried and V30/Legacy mix and straight Legacies and both...

How can one get a "smooth" distortion?

Yessir. I think Andy gets his trademark tone by boosting his amp's dirty channel with the BB. With the recto I would use the plus and max out one side or stack both circuits into the clean ch. On the Mark's rhythm ch, I use it more like Andy. BTW, the left side (blue ch) of that...

    pre 500: substance or hype?

I've gone back and forth on this issue as well...Do you go for the "holy grail" pre 500 or a revision up through F and then have limited channels, lackluster clean tone, or do you go Roadster and get close to the that killer grail, but gain in options (better clean, more channels, power options...
