Voodoo Labs PP2+ vs Trex Fueltank Classic??

Seeming as you guys on here are all using V's, I was wondering what you could say where the pros and cons of these 2 units? They both seem pretty similar at what they do, but I can't seem to decide at the moment and based on a price perspective, the Trex looks a better option. Perhaps one of the...

    Crunchlab PU's

Try them out, I like them best of all the pickups in my guitars that have DiMarzios (PAF Pro, Breed neck and Bridge, Fred, CL?LF).

John Petrucci publishes his Mark V Settings!!!

It means that using his exact settings means you are playing 'loud as hell' and that you can control the volume using the fx level in the back of the amp.

    Pennywise Tone

You gotta remember his RGs are oversized, so I am guessing that having such a big piece of wood in the body affects the tone slightly, but I am sure that messing around with your RG you could easily get some of their tones from your V. I was listening to some of the newer stuff today but there...

    The TONE of TWEED POWER

I always play in variac mode these days, as I am just switching between 10w and 45w, but I love the way it sounds. I guess that is in part due to the small room in which I play has alot of furniture that could probably affect the sound, but I personally love the Variac setting.

    Mark IV Mode... No Balls?

When I want more balls from my Ch 3 I just change guitars and use my Jem with Dimarzio Breed pups. That seems to give it too much balls in my opinion.

Need a new guitar for new MARK V!

I use my JP6 almost exclusively with my Mark V, and it seems to fit perfectly and the Crunchlab and Liquifire just give the perfect amount of clarity to cut thru the gain of this amp. My other guitar doesn't seem to like the massive gain of the Mk V as much and has a little bit of fizziness with...

The "Preset" EQ is AMAZING in CH3!

I think I posted something about this last night, and I am glad that you like it. :D I had it set to the preset for days on end without even knowing and I was getting some of my favorite tones I have gotten so far from using it. It is very scooped but it was kind of deleting some of the...

    Am I the only one...

I like it, but I changed to the preset knobfor channel 3 and had it turned all the way up and was digging the tone I had, especially in Mark IV Pentode mode. I thought for days I was playing with the graphic turned on but the graphic eq is much better for tweaking when you start to play louder I...

    Mark V... the Ultimate Amp?

I love my Mark V, there is nothing else I can really say about it that hasn't been said. For me it is THE tone I want, and even though there is so much versatility in this amp, I haven't tweaked it for about a fortnight as it is right now dialled in on each channel to sound exactly like I want...

    Mark V modern metal tone

My friend is a real metal head and he got some awesome tones on Extreme mode with me eq-ing to his taste. One thing this amp will do is make you focus alot more on your technique, as I have found that picking angle really can make a great difference to your tone through this amp if you are after...

How useful is the 10w setting on the Mk V

I only dabble with 10 watt mode occassionally but it seems to me that there is less 'headroom' and dynamics in this mode when playing at quiet volumes. I haven't really bothered to crank my amp up in this mode, and only use it when playing extremely quietly but I am sure that when it is turned...

My band's myspace, all songs recorded with MarkV

I find it funny you have the best gear and you are the singer, but it sounds pretty cool. It sounds so different to how I have my tone setup but at the same time I can still hear that amp sound in it. I wouldn't mind knowing what mode you are using though, as I think it sounds pretty killer.

OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD

No worrys mate, just remember he was playing in clean not on tweed or whatever I was messing around in. And I can't handle these volumes at home in my small room, it is way too loud for me, but it sounds unreal in a larger room.

The 'Variac' setting is just fantastic!!!

I think that alot of these people who grabbed this amp then got rid of it without really exploring the tonal possibilitys are missing out on alot of it. The ease of use of this amp is amazing, I had a friend over tonight who was playing and I was able to tune the amp to his playing to get the...

    Loop's Gain Stage (level) Knob

I use it to play at bedroom volume, essentially enabling the FX loop (without anything plugged into it) and it really allows me to play at a moderate volume so the neighbours don't hate on me too much.

    are you serious?

Guitar hero isn't that bad, I say this as I enjoy playing it. Fair enough I could go play my real guitar or whatever, but sometimes it is fun to just play this with a few friends and relax with beers. You all take life too serious if this upsets you, but honestly those guitars are WAY overpriced...

OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD

Petrucci's actual settings copied from a pic I took at his clinic in Perth last saturday But the channel 1 switch settings are wrong as he was playing in clean mode, I just forgot to alter them as I was hurrying to post this up.

Help!! I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH TOO MUCH ICE PICK TREBLE

As I said on the JP forum, my cables have died, and my spare has alot of intermittent noise going on. However a question I will ask as my Mk 1 mode is sounding overly bassy again, I was playing in a dark room (no lighting other than the amp and pedalboard) tonight and noticed that the 2nd 6L6...

Good or bad move...Trading a Stiletto Deuce II for Powerball

This is true. You are actually better off buying a ticket to the USA and buying a Mesa from the factory and then bringing it back on the plane and just buying a voltage changing unit and you would be still up by around $1500Au (with todays exchange rates). its funny reading how everyone on here...
