I tried out a Roadster today at the store, and I noticed something strange about the presence on channels 3 and 4. Channel 3 seemed to have WAY more presence. To make it equal out, I had channel 3 at 11 o' clock and channel 4 was maxed all the way. Was this amp just a dud, or is that actually...

After reading a lot of reviews, everyone says that a Roadster is a darker sounding amp than a dual/triple recto. Does this mean that the Road King is also a darker sounding amp? Just curious... because of all the things I've read, nobody has mentioned the Road King having that quality.

If it is actually a Marshall, he must've replaced everything that was originally in it. But I'm still not completely convinced... maybe he slapped a Marshall logo on another amp haha.

But I still hear a low end growl like a Rectifier. And what makes it sound so HUGE? Stereo chorus?

Awesome! In these forums, I've read a lot about people using Maxon808 OD pedals with their Roadsters to "tighten up" the sound. Since I'm not really a speed metal player, would you still recommend one?

Oh, and I've been reading (and listening)... and it sounds like EL34 tubes give Boogies a brighter sound and tighter bass than 6L6's. Do Roadsters come with EL34's in them? If not, are there any brands besides Mesa tubes that wouldn't void the warrenty?

We must not be hearing the same guitar sound. They use several different ones on that track. And I found it on the spot to provide a second example of a modern-type tone. As for other stuff I play, I like Van Halen (obviously), Giant, KISS, Skid Row, Motley Crue, and pretty much any 80's hair...

Oh, and I checked the music video. I see a Mesa logo on the cabs. It may not mean they used one, but that's the actual guitarist that played on the track.

I never said I was a huge Paramore fan. I just thought that particular tone sounded pretty heavy. Would you go with the Roadster then? Versatility would be a plus for me.

Honestly, there's no way that the problem is my pickups. I've got an Ibanez rg770DX with IBZ Dimarzio pickups. And on top of that, I have 4 other guitars with different pickups as well, but the amount of gain still sounds the same.

Well, the old 2 channel isn't really an option for me. I need at least 3 channels in an amp. So what's changed since the old ones?
