Bummer, the power tranny was replaced. At least you still have the 100 OT!
The best advice is to send it directly back to Mike B. at Mesa, so he can completely restore the amp back to health.
What does that pot on the power filter board do?
I think they ran longer than most people think. The 4YB wasn’t dropped when the Recto cabs came out in 1991, but both were options through the late/mid 90s.
I’m speaking directly from memory, but I believe the Mark III was offered as late as 1998, and could be ordered as a Green or Blue Stripe...
I haven’t had much of an issue getting musical feedback from my Mark IIIs at all. I wonder why that is? More than half of mine have gone back to Mike B, and he’s cleaned up and made mine set for another 40 or so years, so I can safely say nothing in my rigs are faulty. I do play through 4x12s...
That’s too cool!
Well, it looks like your Eminence speakers were born in the 30th week of 1995, so I’m guessing your cab may be built sometime around then!
Neither am I. But, I believe they are VS-12s according to their part number.
If the label details are accurate, they were manufactured in the first week of January1992, and they are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th speakers made of the run!
Hey Appleridge,
I owe you an apology! I was pulling some of my cabs apart to do some maintenance, and you were right! I DO IN FACT HAVE SOME EMINENCE SPEAKERS hiding in one of my 4x12s! Good eye my friend!
Also, I found the old thread where they were originally discussed, and I’m posting it...
I own a Red Stripe, two Blue Stripes, a III+ Coliseum, a III++ Coliseum, and a few No Stripes (early Black Stripes).
I don’t think altering your Blue Stripe to Red Stripe Specs is a worthwhile endeavor.
Why? The Blue Stripe was Mesa’s attempt to more closely match the IIC+, and had more...
Yep! I had quite a few of those old catalogs. The main purpose of making this thread was to:
1. post up players/bands that weren’t necessarily endorsers of M/B, but used M/B products.
2. Provide a visual encyclopedia of the gear artists used, whether it’s studio pics, live shows, or anything...
Tony Iommi - Mark IIB Coliseum.
Tony switched to the Mark IIBs during the Mob Rules era. Although the live stage setup didn’t feature the amps on stage, Tony shot an instructional video where the amps are clearly visible. This is where the screenshot below was captured…
Soundgarden / Chris Cornell / Kim Thayil - Dual Rectifiers and Recto Cabs
In the studio with two early Blackface Recifiers, and two chromeface Duals
And a pic of the Superunknown original picture that shows the original image that because the Album artwork…
