I'm using an Avatar traditional with a WGS Vet 30 and couldn't be more happy with it.

I've always heard that Ron did good work, but I've also heard some real horror stories. Next time you need work in the Houston area, I would suggest taking it to Mike Nedd. He's done a fair amount of work for me and his work is top notch. And you won't have to wait a month to get your gear back.

I bought an MXR 6 band eq and run it in the loop. Problem solved.

I've bought tubes form both places and been very satisfied. Doug's has more variety and those are the ones I went with in my Mesa. My other amps I've bought tubes from Bob. Both places have top notch service and fast shipping.

Mine has always done this but only in 50w mode and in both channels. I have no clue what causes it.

Mine does it with the reverb off, with or without a guitar plugged in. Anything above 11 o'clock on the volume is feedback city. Whereas I can dime the gain and master on the crunch channel with no issues at all.. Other than the fact that it's loud as hell :mrgreen:

I've been wanting to try this for a while. I haven't had any lucking finding a headshell that will fit.

I've had the same problem with mine on the gain channel, multiple tube swaps didn't help at all. I basically don't use the gain channel. If you figure out a solution let me know.

Clean and crunch on two different channels would make this my perfect amp.

Soundchaser59: This would give you a 5.33 Ohm load which would be fine. As long as your total ohm load does not go below 4 you are safe. fredm: Yes that is perfectly fine to run a 16ohm load out of the 8ohm jack. You can always go higher then rated, just not lower. Hope this helps. Trea

I have to agree with Edward here. I find the 5:50 to be a great amp but I don't really use the burn channel at all. It just doesn't suit me. I love the crunch channel though. It has such a great drive sound and plenty of gain for my needs. There is more gain on the burn channel of course...

I actually figured out my own question. Once I did the math, having the internal speaker and the 4 ohm cab running at the same time gives a 2.37 ohm load. Not good. I would have to rewire the speakers to show a 16 ohm load in order to be safe, but I think I'm just going to take the cab back...

One more quick question. The cabinet can be run at 4 ohm mono or 8 ohm stereo. Would it be better to connect it to the 5:50 with two cables from the 4 ohm outs to the 8 ohm stereo inputs? Or one 4 ohm out into the 4 ohm mono input. This is while running the internal speaker at 8 ohms...

Thanks for the advice. It seemed like that would be ok, but I just wanted to make sure. It does sound nice with both the internal speaker and the 2x12 cab running at the same time.

I have a similar question. If I have a 2x12 extension cabinet rated at 4 ohms is it safe to run the internal speaker out of the 8 ohm jack and the extension cabinet out of one of the 4 ohm jacks at the same time? Thanks in advance
