Why mesa didnt put the gain boost on the lead channel is beyond me. The one thing i've ALWAYS looked for in the mark series is Rhy = nice clean, Lead = high gain rhythm, and then either a cloned lead channel for a high gain lead, or a boost function to add a little more gain.

i'm considering doing the same. picking up some decent wood from home depot (doesnt have to be pretty, just solid), and purchasing some tolex. It doesnt seem that difficult at all. Screw it all together and just round off the corners with a sander or something. I dont need it to be perfect...

ouch, then nevermind haha, but definately dont put the treble too high, and keep the presence down. The treble gain add gain, but with the DC-5 at least, it tends to fizz things out

The light on my dc-5 seemed to work intermittently, now it doesnt go on. Just unscrew it? It doesnt seem to unscrew easily so i didnt want to force it.

the attenuater probably cant handle the load by itself. You might be frying the transformer without a cabinet connected

+1 i just purchased a DC-5 combo from a local sam ash and the lead channel had half the gain that it should, and a significant volume drop. Made them throw in a quartet of preamp tubes on the sale, swapped em out, and now it kills. Replace the preamp tubes, and you should be good to go.
