New TransAtlantic: Unbearable Amounts of Hisssssss !!!

I tried the TA-15 along side the Lone Star Classic - The LSC was the same if not noiser. So I think it is just the way it is. I also now realise that it was probably unfair of me to compare the TA-15 (whose valves operate in class A) against a Fender amp (whose valves operate in class AB).

    Tube swaps in the TransAtlantic.

I don't really use the HI 2 channel much. I have been experimenting with a RAT in front though and having fun with that

    Tube swaps in the TransAtlantic.

"Well, all I can say about that is that it's a high gain amp" I don't see why the clean channel should be affected more than the, erm, high gain channel though! ;-)

    Question For Transatlantic Owners......Hiss???

My TA-15 is very hissy on those modes (clean channel) 15 & 25 watt. Louder than my mesa Nomad 45 combo, & 100 watt were and Fender Blues Junior and other tubes amps I have tried. Also same as two others I have tried on shop floor and various internet videos. I think it is a design 'feature'...

New TransAtlantic: Unbearable Amounts of Hisssssss !!!

I have the amp and think it is very hissy. The worst for me is clean channel top boost in 15 and 25 watt (with presence pushed in). The 5 watt modes are very quiet, and the red channel is not so bad. Disappointing for an amp of this prestige. I took mine back and the shop said it was...

    Transatlantic (25w) Vs Marshall TSL 122 (100w) - Help

If you run your front of house sound through the PA the sure it'll be fine. If not, then I'd have doubts if I were you. Being lower wattage - and in a presumably loud band - your clean sound will break up sooner. It sounds to me like you need clean head room and want the pedal to add dirt...

    TransAtlantic speaker?

For your passing interest, my speaker plan is a single celestion blue (15 watt, 8 ohms) in an oversized open back 1 x 12 cab. Here's how I think it would match the various settings in 15 watt & 5 watt. The channels that I most often use are marked with an asterik (*) Ch1 Normal: Good Ch1...

    Manufacturing issue with the TransAtlantic.

I took the bottom off mine and that cable is actually bent away from the front panel mini-switch board. Thanks for the info though. Everything inside is very neatly laid out

    Manufacturing issue with the TransAtlantic.

"The relays were flickering on my TA" What does this mean... what were the symptons? Cheers Jon

The Trans Atlantic is one effects loop away from awesome...

Not much point in an fx loop in an amp that you are using to get power tube breakup! The usual fx rules work with this amp. Wah, Overdrive, Phasers work fine into the front of the amp. You can have a touch of delay on the dirty tones but anything more sounds bad and muddy to my ears. If...

    Transatlantic owners help :)

I'm glad you created this thread. I have the same issue. I've taken my back to the shop and their floor model do this too. They said it is normal. I've heard pop on channel selectors for other amps before but this is much louder. For reference I've owned the Nomad 45 combo, Nomad 100 head...

    Express 5:50 Hiss

Unlikely to be hiss as it hisses when not being played, not guitar or lead plugged in. Maybe it was a fault with that particular model, but hen I returned it the same thing was apparent on the shop floor one. The hiss is apparent on the clean channel hardly cranked. I fear that many 5:25s /...

    Express 5:50 Hiss

I found the 5:25 to be very hissy. Definately was the amp (unplugged cable and guitar). I measured the hiss with a sound pressure level metre and found it to be nearly twice that of my Nomad 100 head. Also tested the 5:25 against the Lonestar, Fender Hot Rod Delux and Blues Junior. The 5:25...

Nomad 100 - Switching to half power questions

That makes sense. It was just one of those things that bugged me. As you say, the real life difference is not really an issue. Thanks :-)

Nomad 100 - Switching to half power questions

Greetings! The Nomad 100 has a switch that the manual states will switch down to 50 watts, but the label on the switch on the actual amp says 60 watts. Any idea which is correct? I guess it is achieved by using 2 of the 4 power valves, making it 50 watts but I'd like it very much if...

    Nomad 45 Reverb

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to try cranking the clean volume and see if the reverb becomes more apparent. I'm loving everything else on the Nomad and if I can get the reverb sounding right then I think I have a keeper :-)
