Mark III questions & help, if you please :)

As I've stated in other threads before, I am not fond of putting an eq pedal, especially the Boss GE-7, in the effects loop. Those things are total tone squashers....they'll take away the depth & fullness of your tone. Although my experience with EQ pedals has been with the GE-7, I haven't...

    6L6's in a Stiletto

You can't bias it for 6L6's, Mesa's have a fixed, non adjustable bias. THe only way you could get it biased for 6L6's is to have a tech modify it by installing an adjustable bias pot in it, or maybe even a bias switch like the Recto's have...

Mesa Boogie Mark II B combo

That sounds pretty fair price for a Mk IIb, depending on the condition & features. Is it a 60/100 watter or just a 60 watt? Does it have reverb? Tolex or hardwood cabinet?. Combo or head?....The Mk IIC+ is considered the creme de la creme of the Mk series, but there's some good tones to be...

Tell me about the Mark IIB

The Mk IIb that I own, which is a 60 watter w/o the on board eq, sounds very close to a Mk I. The rhthym channel sounds really nice when set for clean. One of these should make a great back up to your Mk IIC+!

OT but most everyone here seems to know there stuff.....

It seems like alot of times I'll read reviews on some of the vintage reissue gear, for example: the Marshall plexi reissues or a '57 reissue Strat, and some of these kids will talk **** on it just because they can't get that "Nu Metal" sound out of it, or they will give a glowing reviews on...

what pickups for my les paul standard?

I tend to keep my pick-ups somewhat low to preserve the sustain, but they still don't clean up enough to suit me.....

I got to play on a Mk I reissue yesterday....

There was a used one at a Guitar Center. My curiosity got the best of me, so I had to play on it, as I have never played through a Mk I that I can recall. To my ears, it sounded very similar to my MK IIb. Now I'm curious to play through a real Mk I with a 5-band EQ, I wish they would've...

Gibson Les Paul BFG - one man's opinion...

Yeah, this guitar has recieved less than favorable fanfare over at the Gibson forum also. I'm very curious about it personally, & I have yet to see one in a shop, but I think I'll try one out as soon as I do. I like the idea of the humbucker/P-90 combo, though it would be cool if gibson would...

so a guy on ebay is selling a "mark IIB+"

The general consensus on this discussion board seems to be is to pack the amp up & ship it to the Mesa/Boogie factory to have Mike B do the work. If anything, going that route you can be assured that it will be done right...I'm wanting to send my Mk IIb to have him go over it, but I'm trying to...

    Mark III brainwashing

I get a really good 80's-esque metal sound out of my Mk III no-stripe, although I'm not sure how well it would do for extremely detuned/7-string nu-metal sounds (Drop D is as low as I go...) A year ago, I paid $650 for my simulclass long head. $1,200 would be a fair price for a used Mk IV in...

    No SOLDANO talk?

There's a used SLO at my local Guitar Center for like $1300, I'm so tempted.....

so a guy on ebay is selling a "mark IIB+"

Interesting..... I noticed the person who posted this auction added this bit to it: "Do to all the Mesa Boogie experts out there that have extended their comments about this amp we are going to add the statement that we obviously don't know "jack" about this amp. That being said, it is what...

Mk III with No Eq - Need suggestions for an EQ?

can they do the same mod to a MK IIb? If so, very tempting....

so a guy on ebay is selling a "mark IIB+"

He still has it listed as a "Mk IIB+"......Rare blonde tolex, ehh? I always thought blonde tolex Mk IIb's were fairly common, I see them on ebay all the time....My Mk IIb has blond tolex......$995 seems too much for a Mk IIb, i wouldn't give more than $700 personnally, but then again, it is Mk...

Mark IIB preamp tubes, reverb driver tube in V4

I tried replacing the 12AT7 with a new 12AX7 (Groove tube) in my Mk IIb, and i thought it didn't sound as clean, so I put the 12 AT7 back in (it was an older tube, it had RCA's in a couple of the other slots..) The tube on the right in your picture has the Yamaha corporate logo on it, so I...

    Greenbacks and Vintage 30's.

It's fairly common to mix speakers in cabinets. In 4-12's, alot of folks will arrange them in an "x" pattern. Just make sure the ohm ratings matches with the other speakers... the G12T-75/Vintage 30 combo seems popular with alot of folks, the former gives a little extra low end with the V30's...
