    Express 5-50 weird problem

Hi: Was the star washer on the inside or the outside of the chassis? Here's my experience: I have an Express 5:25, and this amp also makes a noise when I touch the clean channel gain control. I live near the Hollywood Mesa store, so took the amp in for them to check. They also had another...

July Guitar Player Review: Express 5:25

In a nutshell, they call it "David" (the combo killer).

My new summer love (Express 5:25)

My 5:25 combo has the hum/buzz when I touch the gain control on the clean channel, and Mesa Hollywood said to bring it in so they could make sure the gain pot was properly grounded to the chassis.

My new summer love (Express 5:25)

Nice looking amp and color! Could you please do me a favor? Could you unplug the input to the amp, turn the gain control on the clean channel up to 12 o'clock or so, and then just barely touch the gain control with your finger. Do you get a hum or buzz when you touch it that goes away when you...

Exact effect of Contour control on Exp 5:25?

John T. at Mesa Hollywood got back to me about my question: "Its basically a graphic eq type of circuit which is between the preamp and power amp .As you increase contour control the low and high freq increase John T. Mesa Hollywood"

Exact effect of Contour control on Exp 5:25?

Thanks for the feedback. I, too, tend to run both contour controls at 9 o'clock-ish, but I don't tend to run either master volume up nearly as high as the examples in the 5:25 user manual. It's just not necessary for my purposes, and I get less hiss on the clean channel. My impression also is...

Exact effect of Contour control on Exp 5:25?

What is the exact acoustic effect of the "Contour" control on the Express 5:25? The Mesa website suggests it's a 5 band EQ in a single knob, but what specifically is the frequency shaping of the signal that occurs. It's not really clear by listening, and I'd like to know how I'm changing the...

    Express 5:25

A little more feedback: after redoing the hardwood floor and repainting my studio, I finally got everything set back up and I could do some more playing along with CD's and satellite radio (jazz and blues). Of all my amps, the 5:25 is the most pleasing for this purpose. Excellent voicing to fit...

    Express Amp Cover

No pocket on my padded cover, but I did get a velcro closure bag for the footswitch.

    Express 5.25 Noise

John (I think that was his name), anyway one of the guys at the MB Hollywood store, told me that was the nature of the beast. Part of the circuitry to get the chimey tones from the clean channel. And I do like the tones out of the clean channel very much. My 5:25 basically only has some hiss...

    Express 5:25

I discovered today that the Express 5:25 and the Gretsch Setzer Nashville 6120 are a match made in Clean, Crunch and Blues Heaven.

    Express 5:25

The M/B Hollywood store had ordered that red one, a purple one, and an orange one some time ago. They all came in at once. I had asked them to hold the red one for me about 3 weeks ago.

    Express 5:25

It's red. My camera makes it appear orange.

    Express 5:25

Here's mine. I'm very pleased with it so far. It has the garnet Tolex. It's actually redder than it looks. There's a bit of hiss in the 25 watt mode on the clean channel, but generally quiet in the other modes. There's less hiss in the 5 watt Class A power setting. The Crunch, Blues and Burn...

Hey everyone...Post some pics of your custom color Boogies.

Thanks, Cellar. The "Table" was made by my artist wife. She's done a whole series of them, some with a theme (a "Timetable" for example with old watches and watch parts in an antique type tray).

Most outragous Mesa ever built, owned or saw

I hear ya' there, Russ. I have some nice amps, and the clean and vintage channels on the Nomad are as good (or better) as anything else I have. Interestingly, when I got this cab and tried wiping it down with some guitar polish, the cloth started picking up some red stain. I contacted Mesa...

I tried the Express amps today.

When I tried the 5:25 at the Mesa Store in Hollywood, the contour switch made a lot of difference in filling out the sound. I thought it was very effective.
